IndiGo to suspend flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City

IndiGo has announced the temporary suspension of flights to six international destinations, including Hong Kong, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, citing softer travel demand and a challenging operating environment. The airline said services to Langkawi (Malaysia), Krabi (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Hong Kong, and Shanghai (China) will be suspended from July 1, while flights to Siem Reap (Cambodia) will be halted from July 3. According to IndiGo, the suspension will remain in effect until September 30. Bookings for all affected routes are expected to resume from October 1, although the airline said services could be restored earlier if market conditions improve and operational requirements permit. “IndiGo will resume bookings for all the impacted services starting October 1, 2026. Air India, IndiGo, Air India Express cut flights as fuel costs surge

Major Indian carriers, including Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express, will reduce domestic flight operations starting June amid rising fuel costs, softer seasonal demand and operational pressures linked to the West Asia conflict, officials familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. The reduction in flight operations of Indian carriers will begin in June. (Representational Photo/Bloomberg) Air India will cut around 22% of its domestic flights from next month, officials said. The airline had earlier reduced about 27% of its international operations. The reductions come amid a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel prices following the US-Israel conflict with Iran, which has increased operating costs for airlines. Indian carriers have also faced longer flying times and higher expenses because of the continued closure of Pakistani airspace to Indian airlines. Air India, which reported a record annual loss of more than $2 billion in 2025-26, said the latest cuts were part of a temporary network rationalisation exercise. “In continuation of our previously announced adjustments to select international services between June and August 2026, we have temporarily …

Air India to reduce domestic flights by around 22% amid high fuel prices

Air India, the country’s only full-service carrier, will reduce its domestic flights by around 22% starting next month, the airline announced on Wednesday, days after reducing 27% of its international flights to mitigate the impact of high fuel prices on overall operations. Air India said it has temporarily rationalised operations on certain domestic routes. (X) The flight cuts come against the backdrop of the US-Israeli attack on Iran, which drove a surge in jet fuel prices and forced airlines to increase fares and reduce flights. Airlines spend up to a quarter of their operating expenses on fuel. Air India, which this month reported an annual record loss of over $2 billion in the 2025-26 fiscal year, has also struggled with the ban preventing Indian carriers from using Pakistan’s airspace. On Wednesday, Air India cited previously announced adjustments to select international services between June and August and said it has temporarily rationalised operations on certain domestic routes during the same period, with a reduction in frequencies on select routes. “These adjustments are driven by the sustained …
