RCB coach Andy Flower on difference between 2025 and 2026 IPL titles: More confidence now

4 min readJun 1, 2026 06:07 PM IST Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower had admitted there was a definite difference between their successive IPL title triumphs, saying in 2025 when they first lifted the trophy there was a lot of uncertainty and tension. Having won their first IPL title last year breaking the 18-year drought, RCB joined the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians as the third team to win the tournament twice in succession. While their performances last season itself was wholesome, this season from the start to finish, they played like a team that knew how to overcome challenging phases and emerge victorious. Having taken charge of RCB ahead of the 2024 season when they made the play-offs after a stuttering start to the season, Flower said it is a culmination of all three seasons. “Definite differences between 2025 and 2026 campaigns. But I would also mention the 2024 season, because that was instrumental in setting our determination to do things a little bit differently. The very tough first …

We don’t need coaches driving intensity standards when Virat Kohli is around, says RCB coach Andy Flower

4 min readJun 1, 2026 05:28 PM IST Though Virat Kohli isn’t the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, their captain Rajat Patidar and head coach Andy Flower have paid rich compliments on the influence the former India captain brings to the franchise. As RCB successfully managed to defend the title, beating Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, Kohli again played an match-winning knock, scoring an unbeaten 75 off 42 deliveries in the chase as he tallied over 650 runs in the season. Though he stepped aside as the captain ahead of the 2024 season, Kohli continues to be in the thick of action and continues to be the face of the franchise. Be it in the field or with the bat, his intensity has been hard to miss and at the same time, he has let Patidar run the show as captain without any interference. And Patidar said Kohli’s presence has allowed him to grow in his role as captain. “Regarding Virat bhai, I think you know, as I said in many …

3 min readHyderabadMay 23, 2026 09:11 AM IST Since joining the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, opportunities in the starting XI have been scarce for Venkatesh Iyer. RCB were a champion side last season, and successful teams tend not to tinker with the combination. Iyer was benched through the early stages of the season before making an impact as a substitute against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Due to injuries and in an attempt to tweak combinations for the Raipur conditions, RCB later drafted Iyer in as a starter. On Friday against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Iyer smashed a 19-ball 44 as an opener, albeit in a defeat, pursuing a tall 256-run target. In their previous game against the Punjab Kings, Iyer played in the middle order, replacing the injured skipper Rajat Patidar and smashed 73 off 40 balls to win Player of the Match. Salman Khan Once Picked Up a Flower With His Teeth to End a Fight With Katrina Kaif

Long before Mumbai’s restaurants became paparazzi zones, Olive Bar & Kitchen was one of the city’s most popular celebrity hangout spots. Tucked away in Bandra, the restaurant was known for hosting actors, filmmakers and cricketers away from the public eye. Many stories from those years never made headlines because the restaurant maintained strict privacy for its guests. Now, AD Singh, founder of Olive Bar & Kitchen, has opened up about one such moment involving former couple Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif from their dating days. Speaking to ET Now, Singh recalled how Salman and his brothers were regulars at the restaurant during the early 2000s. Katrina, who had just arrived in India and was working on her debut film Boom, would also often visit because the film’s office was located nearby. Over time, the two grew close and eventually started dating. Recalling those days, Singh said, “Salman and his brothers used to come here a lot in the earlier days, and Katrina came to India while working on Boom. The maker’s office was nearby, so …

Why RCB coach Andy Flower feels IPL’s Impact Player rule is a ‘good innovation’ | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Mar 27, 2026 07:35 PM IST While players like Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma say that the introduction of the Impact Player rule takes away the skills out of the game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower feels differently. According to the former Zimbabwe player, the Impact Player rule was a “good innovation” as it offers tactical flexibility to teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). “I think it has been a good innovation, it’s interesting to be part of it. You’re making decisions on the impact player, and I think it’s interesting for the audience to debate what’s right and what’s wrong, so tactically it’s quite an interesting addition to the game,” Flower said on the eve of IPL’s 2026 season-opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad. “I must say that one of the things I love about cricket is that when you select an 11, one of the challenges you have is balancing your 11 – the length of the batting order, balancing, perhaps, some guys that can’t feel that well and …

RCB title defence gets a lift with Josh Hazlewood’s arrival but Andy Flower confirms absence in IPL 2026 opener vs SRH

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received a timely boost ahead of the new IPL season with Josh Hazlewood joining the squad in India. Although the Australian quick will miss the opening match, his arrival comes as a big positive for the defending champions, especially with Sri Lanka seamer Nuwan Thushara ruled out for the entire campaign. Hazlewood played a key role in RCB’s title-winning run last year and remains central to their plans this season as well. Josh Hazlewood will miss the IPL 2026 opener. (AP) The experienced pacer is still working his way back to full fitness after dealing with hamstring and Achilles issues, which kept him out of the Ashes at home and the recent T20 World Cup. Despite those concerns, his presence in the camp lifts the mood and adds depth to the bowling attack. In the previous season, Hazlewood delivered consistently, picking up 22 wickets in 12 matches at an impressive average of 17.54. Amid injury concerns, RCB head coach Andy Flower delivered a reassuring update on Hazlewood’s condition and his expected …
