J-K: Cocaine worth over Rs 10 crore seized in Ganderbal, one arrested

In a major crackdown, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested an alleged notorious drug peddler and recovered cocaine worth over Rs 10 crore from his rented house in the Goripora area of Srinagar, news agency PTI reported. The officers, while briefing the media about the seizure, informed that the arrest was made during the investigation of a case registered in Ganderbal district. The accused has been identified as Maqsood Hussain Khan, the officers said.  Furthermore, a police spokesperson, while shedding light on the operation, highlighted, “During searches conducted at his rented accommodation on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police recovered two packets of a cocaine-like substance, weighing approximately one kilogram, valued at more than Rs 10 crore in the international illicit drug market.” He also added that “a vehicle, several mobile phones and other electronic gadgets were also seized from the house”.  Jammu Kashmir Police carry out inspections at hospitals Earlier on November 22, authorities in Kashmir on Friday continued the ongoing inspection drive, checking lockers of doctors and medical staff …

The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) Friday carried out raids in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts as part of its investigations into the “white collar” terror module, officials said. The early morning raids were carried out by the SIA in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts in central Kashmir, including at the residence of Tufail Bhat at Diyarwani area of Batamaloo locality of the city here, they said. Bhat was arrested here by the SIA last month in connection with the “white collar” terror module case. The raids were a part of the SIA’s investigations into the case, the officials added. The white collar terror module refers to professionals, including doctors, who have been radicalised and allegedly involved in the November 10 Delhi blast. In a tragic accident near the Gund Kangan area of Ganderbal district, at least three tourists lost their lives, and 14 others were injured when their vehicle collided with a bus. The incident occurred when a Toyota Etios, carrying a group of tourists, crashed into a bus, causing a devastating collision. According to local authorities, the impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the death of three people, while the others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist the victims. The injured were evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their conditions are being monitored. He got a minor injury in the right hand. Soon after the firing incident, he was shifted to a nearby hospital. According to the information, he is out of danger. Notably, this marks the third incident of attack on non-local labourers in Kashmir in the past week. The Police are ascertaining the reason for the injury.
