Harish Rao urges govt. to fill reservoirs, MI tanks of Kaleshwaram project

HYDERABAD Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leader and Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly T. Harish Rao demanded that the government fill Annapurna, Ranganayakasagar, Mallannasagar, Kondapochammasagar and Nrusimhasagar reservoirs with water from Mid Manair and ensure water for irrigation to about 4 lakh acres under them. In a letter addressed to Minister for Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday, he said the five reservoirs of the Kaleshwaram Project could be given water since the Mid Manair reservoir has about 22 tmc ft storage now against its full capacity of 27.5 tmc ft. It is being filled by pumping water from Yellampally through Nandi and Gayathri pump houses of the Kaleshwaram Project and it would get more water since Yellampally was getting good inflows with rains in the upstream areas. After filling the five reservoirs with water from Mid Manair, the minor irrigation tanks and check-dams linked to them could be filled without any delay to irrigate 4 lakh acres ayacut assuring the farmers get a good crop. Harish Rao flays govt. for its ‘failure’ to operate all pumps of Devadula

BRS leader T. Harish Rao speaking on lifting Devadula project water, in Hyderabad, on Tuesday. HYDERABAD Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Assembly T. Harish Rao has termed the State Government “failure to switch on all pumps of Devadula project when sufficient water is flowing in the river” as criminal negligence. He reminded that Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka along with other Ministers had announced that all the pumps would be operated from July 14 to fill 22 online reservoirs of the project with 38 tmc ft of Godavari water. However, out of the 10 pumps, 7 were operated on July 13 and only 5 from July, Mr. Rao pointed out, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday. The farmers who had believed the Minister’s word had raised nurseries but were now facing the threat of nurseries not growing beyond the transplantation stage since their fields were not being provided water for irrigation. The BRS leader explained that against the required level of water flow at 73 meters, the …

Lift water from Kannepalli to save farmers, Harish tells Revanth

Hyderabad Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government was attempting to cover up its failure to lift irrigation water from Kannepalli through misinformation and false propaganda against the Kaleshwaram project. In response to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s comments in the Khammam meeting, he pointed out that the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages withstood floods of nearly 28 lakh cusecs in the past, and questioned why the government was now attempting to create fear when the present flood flow was only about one lakh cusecs. He demanded that the government immediately utilise the existing Kannepalli pump house to lift water through Annaram and Sundilla into Yellampalli reservoir instead of allowing valuable Godavari water to flow downstream. He accused the Congress government of deliberately allowing Telangana’s Godavari waters to flow into Andhra Pradesh. Raising concerns over Yellampalli reservoir, Mr. Harish Rao pointed out that against its total storage capacity of 20.18 TMC, only 5.48 TMC of water remained, with storage levels approaching dead storage. He warned that Yellampalli …
