She has been enrolled in the Blended Post Graduate Programme for MBA, for two years. With a cohort of 117 (74 per cent) male students and 41 (26 per cent) female students from around 19 states and UTs, the US, Germany and Nepal, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) commenced its 19th batch of one-year MBA programme (PGPX) for 158 professionals Thursday. The batch comes with an average work experience of 7.6 years with an average age of 30 years and 11 months. The current PGPX batch comprises professionals from diverse industrial backgrounds, including academic and education, advertising/media, aerospace and aviation, banking, financial services and insurance, consulting, defence and security, energy and utilities, FMCG, food and food processing, government enterprises, infrastructure and construction, IT & ITeS, IT products, manufacturing, NGOs and social services, pharma/healthcare, retail/ecommerce, shipping, telecom, travel and hospitality, among others, stated IIMA. QS World University Rankings: IIM Ahmedabad among top 25 for business studies; JNU gets India’s top varsity tag

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has been ranked among the top 25 institutions globally for business and management studies, according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject. IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Calcutta have been ranked among the top 50. The QS rankings, released on Wednesday, April 10, showed that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi is the highest-ranked university in India. JNU is in the 20th position globally for development studies, according to the London-based higher education analytics company. With the sluggish global economy making campus placements harder, B-school graduates who have work experience have a bigger advantage than ever over their peers who don’t. Leading management colleges and companies say candidates who know how to meet corporate demands and possess the latest management skills are increasingly preferred over novices. “When there are rapid changes in the business environment, companies want people who have the latest skills and corporate experience. They need senior management who can think out of the box and prefer a recent MBA graduate with work experience to someone who completed the degree a few years ago,” said Amit Karna, chairperson for PGPX at IIM-Ahmedabad. PGPX is a one-year, full-time MBA programme for management executives. Karna said that increased unpredictability since the pandemic has caused companies to replace five-year plans with short-term goals.
