(File image) Census 2027: The Union Government on Wednesday issued a gazette notification for the houselisting phase of the Census. As per the government, the Census, notified in the Gazette dated June 16, 2025, will be conducted in two phases. State/UT Governments will carry out the House Listing and Housing Census from April 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026, with self-enumeration for 15 days prior to house-to-house visits in a period of 30 days. It is the first phase of the Census to record details about houses & basic amenities but not the persons. The second phase, Population Enumeration (PE), will be held in February 2027.
