Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta celebrated Holi on Thursday with children at the Asha Kiran Home in Rohini, emphasising love and harmony ahead of the festival. Asha Kiran, established in 1989, shelters intellectually challenged individuals, many of whom are abandoned and brought in by authorities. Gupta acknowledged overcrowding at the facility and promised arrangements to relocate some children. “The government will continue to conduct surprise inspections to assess the facilities. Authorities have been directed to regularly review the amenities at Aasha Kiran home and undertake renovations. Additionally, instructions have been given to plant suitable swings and trees in the existing park for the children. Mumbai Central Bus Stand to undergo concretisation from Dec 23 | Mumbai News

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will start concreting work at the Mumbai Central Bus Stand from Monday to improve infrastructure and address long-standing operational challenges. The project, part of a state-wide initiative to modernise 183 bus depots, will be completed within the next two months. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), which has allocated ₹600 crore for modernising bus stations across the state. At Mumbai Central, approximately 1,900 square metres of the bus stand will be concreted at an estimated cost of Rs 1.64 crore. Currently, around 155 buses from depots outside Mumbai operate daily from Mumbai Central, carrying thousands of passengers. However, buses from the Mumbai Central depot will continue to operate from the existing premises. These services will be temporarily rerouted to other bus stations to facilitate uninterrupted operations during the concretisation work. The phased re-routing is intended to minimize disruption for passengers while ensuring smooth operations during the construction period.
