India on Sunday firmly rejected China’s attempt to assign new names to locations within its territory, calling the move “mischievous” and reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh remains an integral and inalienable part of the country, reported news agency IANS. Responding to media queries, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that such actions by China are based on false claims and do not change the ground reality. He emphasised that India categorically rejects any attempt to manufacture narratives regarding its sovereign territory, reported IANS. Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along on Monday strongly condemned the alleged racial attack on a student from Tripura in Dehradun, asserting that the North-Eastern states are an inseparable and integral part of India, reported the IANS. Reacting to the incident, the minister said such attacks reflect ignorance and prejudice towards people from the North-East. The victim, Angel Chakma (24), a resident of Unakoti district in Tripura, was allegedly attacked on December 9 following an argument at Selakui market in Dehradun. Angel, along with his younger brother Michael Chakma, reportedly had a dispute with Suraj Khawas (22), a resident of Manipur living in Dehradun, and five of his associates, as per the IANS. According to the police, Angel was attacked with knives and brass knuckles and was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries on December 26. The Delhi High Court has directed BSES Rajdhani Power Limited to restore electricity supply to a tenant`s premises without insisting on a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the landlords, holding that a pending landlord-tenant dispute cannot be used to deprive a person of a basic amenity. Allowing a writ petition filed by a tenant occupying the third floor of a property in west Delhi, a single-judge bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna ruled that electricity is a basic necessity and an integral part of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution.  “Electricity is a basic necessity and an integral part of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India,” Justice Pushkarna observed, adding that as long as the petitioner is in lawful possession of the premises, he “cannot be deprived of the same”.  The Delhi High Court noted that although disputes between the petitioner and the landlords are pending before a civil court, “a pending landlord and tenant dispute cannot be the basis for depriving electricity, which is a …
