Inside Gurgaon’s private equity-backed schools: Why firms are investing and how classrooms are changing | Delhi News

In 2024, two private equity (PE) and venture capital veterans — Piyush Gupta and Norbert Fernandes — set out to build a new investment firm, Kenro Capital, at a time when artificial intelligence (AI) had become the industry’s most overused buzzword. They started with a quieter, almost philosophical question that has been echoing through boardrooms and venture circles as AI accelerates its reach: In a rapidly changing AI-driven world, what are the things that will not change? The premise was not that AI would reshape everything — but that it would come close. The real challenge was identifying the rare corners of life that would remain stubbornly human. “One answer that stood out was high-touch businesses like schools. People will always send their children to schools,” Fernandes says. With this conviction, Kenro Capital invested roughly Rs 340 crore in K12 Techno Services Private Limited at the end of 2024, best known for its flagship chain, Orchids: The International School. And Kenro Capital is not alone in making that bet. Across India, private equity firms are …

Senate Dems propose ban on presidents investing or endorsing crypto assets

Senate Dems propose ban on presidents investing or endorsing crypto assets

After abruptly pulling their support from what would have been the Senate’s first stablecoin regulatory bill, Senate Democrats announced Tuesday that they would introduce a new bill that would prevent federal officials and their families from issuing digital assets – a bill directed at Donald Trump and his family’s current stablecoin and meme coin holdings. “Currently, people who wish to cultivate influence with the president can enrich him personally by buying cryptocurrency he owns or controls,” said Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), who introduced the bill to the Senate floor, in a press release. “This is a profoundly corrupt scheme. It endangers our national security and erodes public trust in government. Let’s end this corruption immediately.” The End Crypto Corruption Act comes in response to concerns inside the Democratic party that the GENIUS Act, which previously had strong bipartisan support, was inadequate at preventing corruption. Though the Senate Banking Committee passed the bill in March with a bipartisan vote, two subsequent developments reportedly pushed the Democrats to change course. First, a New York Times report last …

‘Some Great Charity’ Ambati Rayudu Blast RR for Investing in Youngsters

Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu has blasted the Rajasthan Royals amidst their poor form in the IPL 2025 and remarked that the franchise they are doing some kind of charity by investing in youngsters. Rajasthan has been struggling in 8th place in the IPL 2025 points table, having won just two out of 8 games. Rajasthan has lost four games in a row, botched run chases in their last two outings and ended up losing to Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. He has criticised the team after their loss to the Lucknow Super Giants, where they failed to score 9 runs in the final over. Rayudu has argued that despite backing youngsters for years, Rajasthan has little to show for it saying that the Royals are running some sort of charity, acting as though they’re giving back to world cricket by nurturing young players. “They’ve invested so much in youngsters over the years. What have they gotten out of it? It’s been 17 years since they’ve won an IPL, and they always showcase this as …

Rajasthan Royals are having a forgettable campaign in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After losing six of their eight matches so far, RR are positioned at the eighth spot in the points table. Their last two defeats were the most heartbreaking as the Rajasthan-based franchise lost the games in close encounters. In the match against Delhi Capitals, RR gave a tough fight to take the match into the super over but they lost. Later against Lucknow Super Giants, RR got a brilliant start in the chase of 181 but fell short by just two runs.  Apart from losing the games, RR also faced a setback as their skipper Sanju Samson suffered a chest injury against DC and had to miss the LSG match. In his absence, young batter Riyan Parag led the team. Seeing RR’s debacle in the ongoing season, former India batter Ambati Rayudu criticised the inaugural champions for investing in young players every year.  “I’ve always had this question in my mind when it comes to RR: …

‘Some great charity..what have they gotten from it?’: Ambati Rayudu slams RR for heavily investing in youngsters | Ipl News

The Rajasthan Royals have struggled top pick up form this season in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), having suffered six defeats out of the 8 games they played this seaso. Sanju Samson’s men are on a four-game losing streak, narrowly letting go of games, be it a defeat in the super over to Delhi Capitals or their failure to chase down 180 vs LSG on Saturday, with 9 runs needed in the last over. Time and again, the 2008 IPL winners have shown trust in young talent, as evident in their munificent investment in players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, captain Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag to name a few. Even 14-year-old debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who took to the crease for RR against LSG was secured for 1.1 crore. Amidst RR’s struggles to conjure up anything significant in terms of wins this season, former Indian International and commentator Ambati Rayudu slammed the RR management and its decisions. He called out the side for their lack of preparation in the way they approached the IPL …
