Published on: Dec 26, 2025 11:49 am IST The air quality is likely be in the ‘very poor’ category for the next six days, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS).  The air quality in the city slipped into the ‘very poor’ category on Friday after witnessing marginal improvement for two days. Jahangirpuri and Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 395, highest amongst all 40 stations.(Parveen Kumar/HT) The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 310. The air quality was recorded as ‘moderate’ at Lodhi road station with an AQI of 185, while it was ‘very poor’ in at least 24 stations. The Centre has implemented stage two of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The air quality in Delhi remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 349, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Jahangirpuri area in the national capital was the worst affected as the AQI there was at 417, SAFAR data showed. The AQI at Anand Vihar was recorded at 402. A 35-year-old man was killed while two others sustained bullet injuries in an incident of shootout in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the police said on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Deepak alias Patrakar. The Jahangirpuri police station received information from Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital regarding a man brought with multiple bullet injuries, who was declared dead, a senior police officer said. Later, two more injured persons, Narendra and Suraj, were admitted to the hospital, the officer added. DCP Abhishek Dhania said, “Preliminary investigation showed that the incident occurred near a park on 900 Wali Gali in Jahangirpuri’s D Block, when Deepak, his brother and his associates had a dispute with Narendra and Suraj… Both the parties opened fire at each other.” During the crossfire, Deepak was shot four times on his neck, back and both legs, Narendra and Suraj, meanwhile, sustained injuries on the back and leg, respectively, the officer said. “An investigation into the matter has been initiated after registering an FIR… Both Narendra and Suraj have been detained and we are …

A shooting incident on Sunday evening between two rival groups in Jahangirpuri resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two others. The confrontation escalated from a verbal dispute to a gun battle, raising serious concerns about rising gang violence in the area. According to police reports, the deceased has been identified as Deepak, 35. He was reportedly standing near a park on 900 wali Gali with his brother and associates when a confrontation occurred with another group led by Narendra and Suraj. The altercation quickly turned violent, with approximately ten rounds fired during the exchange. Deepak sustained multiple gunshot wounds, primarily to his neck, legs, and back. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to BJRM Hospital by his brother, he was declared dead upon arrival.
