Jet fuel price slashed by ₹5 amid softening international oil rates

Price for Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) or jet fuel was reportedly cut by ₹5 per litre on Wednesday, a development that comes amid softening international oil prices due to the pause in fighting in West Asia. Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) now costs ₹110 a litre in Delhi, industry sources said. (Shuttershock/representative) Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) now costs ₹110 a litre in Delhi, PTI news agency reported, citing industry sources. This is the first reduction since the West Asia crisis led to a spike in jet fuel rates to a record high and comes amid easing of tensions in the region that was rocked by missile-drone exchange between US-Israel and Iran. The fire exchange brought to a halt movement of vessels in Strait of Hormuz, key waterway through which a fifth of world’s oil and gas requirements travelled before the US-Iran war. Amid severe energy supply disruptions caused by the conflict in the oil-rich Gulf region, ATF prices initially surged on April 1, with Indian Oil Corporation displaying a Delhi rate of ₹2,07,341.22 per kilolitre, up …

NCLAT upholds PF, gratuity dues for Jet Airways employees, rejects SBI appeal

Image used for representational purposes only. | Photo Credit: PTI In a significant relief for thousands of former Jet Airways employees, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) upheld an NCLT order directing the airline’s liquidator to pay provident fund (PF) and gratuity dues to workmen and employees in full, dismissing appeals filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) and seven other financial creditors. The NCLAT also rejected the plea by the banks that payment of provident fund, gratuity and pension fund dues be part of the liquidation estate, where they would be subjected to competing claims from various creditors under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code’s (IBC) distribution mechanism. SBI and other banks had claimed that such an exclusion was contingent on the existence of a fund for PF and gratuity at the beginning of the liquidation which was not the case, but this premise was rejected by the NCLAT.  While upholding the NCLT’s February 4 order on PF and gratuity dues, the appellate tribunal also ordered that May …

Jet fuel costs jump 10 per cent, reach Rs 114.5 per litre in Mumbai

Jet fuel costs jump 10 per cent, reach Rs 114.5 per litre in Mumbai

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were raised by around 10 per cent on Tuesday as state-owned oil marketing companies introduced a price stabilisation regime offering domestic airlines a fixed fuel rate for up to three years, in a move aimed at cushioning carriers and passengers from sharp swings in global oil prices. Jet fuel for domestic airlines will now cost Rs 115 per litre, up from Rs 104.927, industry sources told news agency PTI. Under the new framework, the rate will be locked in for up to three years for airlines that choose to opt into the government-backed price stabilisation scheme. Airlines that do not participate in the scheme will continue to pay market-linked prices, currently around Rs 142 per litre, similar to international carriers. Those opting in will receive ATF at Rs 115 per litre, insulating them from fluctuations in global benchmarks. However, while participating airlines will be protected from price spikes, they will also miss out on potential gains when global rates fall. Sources said the scheme is voluntary and airlines will have …

Cabinet clears ₹10,000-cr fund to shield airlines, offset jet fuel price swings

The Union cabinet has approved a ₹10,000 crore fund to shield airlines from volatility in the price of jet fuel even as it offsets losses that fuel sellers incur. The announcement comes at a time when the aviation sector has been impacted by unprecedented volatility in global ATF prices due to the West Asia crisis. (Bloomberg) The one-time budgetary support of ₹10,000 crore will allow Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to provide Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) at stable prices to Indian airlines for both domestic and international operations. “The budgetary support will be in the form of interest-free advances to OMCs through the demands for grants of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The support will be provided to OMCs to facilitate stable ATF pricing for airlines during the ongoing period of exceptional fuel price volatility arising from the West Asia crisis,” the government said. An IndiGo spokesperson said, “We are grateful to the Government of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the concerned authorities for announcing Aviation …

Jet fuel price for international airlines hiked 5.3%, fares under pressure

State-run oil companies raised jet fuel prices for international airlines by 5.33% on Friday, the second hike since April 1, even as domestic airline fares came under pressure from the cumulative impact of rising fuel costs and airspace disruptions. Second Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) hike since April raises cost pressures on airlines (Shutterstock/ Representative photo) Aviation turbine fuel prices for international carriers were raised by $76.55 per kilolitre to $1,511.86 per KL in Delhi, home to India’s busiest airport. There was no change in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines. On April 1, the government said it had limited the domestic ATF increase to 25%, to ₹1,04,927 per KL, to shield passengers from a steeper fare shock.
