Jharkhand Cabinet to be sworn in tomorrow; 10 ministers, including 2 women, likely to take oath | India News

Ten ministers, including two women legislators, are likely to be sworn into Jharkhand’s 12-member Cabinet on Thursday, sources said. The oath-taking ceremony has been scheduled at the Raj Bhavan in the state capital at 12.30 pm, government officials said. “It is too early to say who precisely will be taking oath (on Thursday), but a total of 10 ministers — of whom two will be women legislators — are likely to be inducted,” a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader said. JMM sources said that the twelfth berth on the council of ministers was likely to remain vacant. “The sole remaining berth on the council of ministers is likely to be left vacant for the time being. Both the JMM and the Congress are likely to have one woman minister each in the Cabinet,” said an INDIA bloc source. Image Source : FILE PHOTO Representative image Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Former BJP MLAs Louis Marandi and Kunal Sarangi on Monday (October 21) joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), weeks ahead of the assembly elections in the state. The development also comes barely two days after three-term BJP legislator Kedar Hazra and AJSU Party’s Umakant Rajak joined the JMM. “We joined the JMM today,” Sarangi, the BJP’s former spokesperson and ex-Bahragora MLA, told news agency PTI. In 2014, Marandi, a former BJP legislator, defeated Chief Minister Hemant Soren by a margin of 5,262 votes in Dumka. However, in 2019, Soren won the seat by a margin of 13,188 votes but later vacated it to retain the Barhait constituency. In the subsequent by-election, Soren’s brother, Basant Soren, defeated Marandi by over 6,842 votes in Dumka, a party stronghold. In July, Sarangi resigned from the BJP’s primary membership, about a month and a half after stepping down as the Jharkhand unit spokesperson.  He sent his resignation to BJP state president Babulal Marandi, citing issues within the organization and concerns …

Maharashtra, Jharkhand Election 2024 Schedule: The Election Commission announced the poll schedule for assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. The announcement from the EC comes as the term of Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26, while the term of Jharkhand Assembly will end on January 5, 2025. Maharashtra assembly has 288 seats while Jharkhand has 81 seats. “On behalf of the Election Commision of India, we thank all the voters of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana for strongly participating in polls.
