Call Me Bae Review: A Riches-to-Rags to Success Story With Ananya Panday In It

There are films that run on extensive research and make you introspect, and then there are others that don’t have an ounce of practicality and make it to the audience’s guilty pleasure watchlist. Prime Video’s latest original series, Call Me Bae, falls into the latter category. It is essentially the story of an uber-rich Bella “Bae” Chowdhary, who has been disowned by her family and is now trying to restart her life from scratch in Mumbai. Sounds familiar? Well, that’s because we have seen the storyline millions of times across genres. Call Me Bae heavily borrows elements from similar works done in the past, including Schitt’s Creek, 2 Broke Girls, and Sonam Kapoor’s Aisha. It would remind you of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fashion-conscious Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, or Legally Bloonde’s sorority queen-turned-Harvard-educated-lawyer Reese Witherspoon on more than one occasion— the classic trope of a seemingly air-headed girl who, turns out, is a genius! Storyline Panday’s character is disowned by her uber-rich family after she is caught cheating on her husband If I were …

X CEO Linda Yaccarino Says Community Notes Could Come to News, Other Platforms

X would like to export its crowd-sourced fact-checking feature, Community Notes, to newspapers and other platforms, Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino said at the VivaTech technology conference in Paris on Friday. “It is not impossible to imagine that this particular tool is shared by X to companies like yours, other platforms,” Yaccarino said, addressing fellow panelist Pierre Louette, chief executive officer of French newspaper group Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien. X, formerly Twitter, first launched a version of Community Notes in 2021 as a way for its users to fact-check misleading posts on the platform. Volunteers will add more context to potentially misleading user posts through additional notes, which are then voted on by other “noters.” X’s algorithms will then decide which context note should appear publicly against the misleading post. Since buying the site in 2022, owner Elon Musk has pushed the tool as a bulwark against misinformation – and occasionally as a viable alternative to mainstream journalism. There is evidence that the system is more effective for some topics than others. While it’s adept …

Civil War movie review: Kirsten Dunst-starrer shows there’s no right or wrong side in this conflict | Hollywood

Civil War movie review: The film follows a ragtag group of journalists led by Kirsten Dunst’s Lee Smith on their way from New York to Washington in the hopes of interviewing the President. Their journey takes them through conflict zones and refugee camps, showing us the cost of this war in very real terms. Also read | Kirsten Dunst’s Civil War to Vidya Balan’s Do Aur Do Pyaar: What’s on offer in theatres this weekend? Civil War movie review: Kirsten Dunst in a still from the film that is far less interested in partisan politics than in human psychology and the effects of conflict. Alex Garland, the writer-director behind sci-fi/fantasy allegories like Men (2022), Annihilation (2018), and Ex Machina (2014), turns to the real world with his latest movie – Civil War. Garland, who has always taken a provocative view of things, picks journalism as the lens through which he can refract and reflect the horrors of war. In his Civil War, it’s irrelevant why the two sides are at odds; it only matters that …
