AIFF lodges police complaint after anonymous caller’s threat to Chaubey

The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) alleged that the federation president Kalyan Chaubey had been threatened by an anonymous caller. Following this the federation lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police. An AIFF official complained about the ‘registration of FIR against unknown miscreants’ at the Dwarka Sector 23 police station on Thursday. As per the complaint, the AIFF office, also located at Dwarka, received a call on September 10 issuing “threats to the life and property of not only Chaubey but also his family.” “Delhi police has received a complaint at Dwarka Sector 23 police station and are conducting an inquiry,” a senior police officer told PTI. Chaubey was elected as the AIFF president in September 2022. The Indian federation has been embroiled in controversies since they sacked former secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran. ‘India missed the bus by not playing in 1950 World Cup’: Kalyan Chaubey

Kalyan Chaubey, the president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), on Tuesday, said India ‘missed the bus’ by giving participation in the Asian Games and Olympics more importance than in the FIFA World Cup. Chaubey was referring to India’s languishing FIFA rankings, as the national team is currently at the 121st spot while addressing an audience – comprising of media persons and former footballers – in Kolkata on the felicitation ceremony of the 1974 Asian Youth Championship winning Indian team. Incidentally, the Asian Youth Championship – a title India jointly shared with Iran following a 2-2 draw in Bangkok on April 30, 1974 – remained Indian football’s last international crown. The country has only gone down the hill since, with Igor Stimac-coached side barely making any improvement in terms of performance and rankings. Misplaced priorities To bring India’s poor ranking to perspective, Chaubey pointed to former administrators’ misplaced priorities. “Many people have asked me why India did not take part in the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil; had India played in the World …

The Supreme Court has issued a ‘Show Cause’ notice to Kalyan Chaubey, prompting him to justify why he should not be relieved of his roles as the president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and joint secretary of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). This move comes amidst allegations of Chaubey’s alleged defiance of court orders and lack of cooperation in ongoing legal proceedings. The Honโ€™ble court, after careful consideration of the matter, has expressed dissatisfaction with Chaubey’s conduct, deeming it as a wilful defiance of court orders. Consequently, the court has warned of non-bailable warrants being issued against him if he fails to appear before the High Court as directed. The order was passed in response to a petition alleging Chaubey’s absence and lack of cooperation in an election petition filed by him in the Calcutta High Court. This latest development underscores the gravity of the situation, with the court emphasizing the importance of adherence to legal protocols and cooperation in judicial proceedings. Kalyan Chaubey was elected as the joint-secretary of Indian Olympic Association …

The Annual Generation Meeting (AGM) of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) put up a united show in the questions of a slew of allegations levelled against president Kalyan Chaubey by the federation’s sacked legal head Nilanjan Bhattacharjee and Former Andhra Pradesh Football Association (APFA) president Gopalakrishna Kosaraju. At the AGM held on the sidelines of the 77th Santosh Trophy national football championship final in Yupia, Itanagar, on Saturday, the members of all state association and executive committee members of the AIFF refused to pay heed to the allegations against Chaubey and treasure Ajay Kipa. “The allegations don’t have a base, so there is no question of telling about them. AIFF AGM to be held in Itanagar on Sunday

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will organise its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on Sunday. The AGM will be held amid a slew of allegations against president Kalyan Chaubey, who a few days back issued a statement, clarifying his stance on various allegations levelled against him by the sacked legal head of the AIFF, Nilanjan Bhattacharjee. This time the AGM is expected to be a heated one after the controversial sacking of Shaji Prabhakaran as the AIFF secretary general and allegations of “corruption” against president Chaubey. In November last year, Prabhakaran was sacked by the AIFF Emergency Committee for “breach of trust”. The Delhi High Court initially stayed the order, but it later allowed the federation’s executive committee the freedom to expel him. Prabhakaran, however, decided to challenge the “breach of trust” reasoning, …
