Changes have been sought by the members on the extent of land to be retained by the BTC in Bengaluru, rent payable on the land and the tenure of lease. Resolutions in this regard were passed. In February 2026, the State Cabinet decided to allot 110 acres in the Kunigal Stud Farm, and set a two-year deadline from the date of handing over of the land to the Club to move out of Bengaluru. It also decided to provide four acres in the existing premises where the club house – a heritage structure – is located to the BTC. Tahsildar K.S. Supreetha, in an order issued on July 7, appealed to people to avoid these areas in view of the incessant rain, warning of dangers such as landslips, road slips, falling trees, and a sudden rise in water flow in local water bodies. The order informed that rainfall had increased water flow, and made the ground slippery, posing a danger to anyone venturing towards such areas. Citing the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and other relevant provisions, the tahsildar has restricted movement of people to these locations. Ramesh Babu, a farmer from Srinivasapura in Kolar, said, “I have grown Totapuri mangoes on nearly two acres of my field and harvested a yield of eight tonnes. I parked my tractor in a queue where all the farmers were waiting to register themselves to obtain a support price from the government. Mr. Gowda said that notices had already been stuck on vehicles parked on footpaths. He directed officials to issue notices to vehicle owners to ensure they follow the rules and avoid further violations. The Minister has also asked officials to identify locations where the cleared vehicles can be kept. The Hindu had earlier reported that the place for parking vehicles was a concern when the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) began towing operations. A delegation of NDA leaders on Monday submitted a formal complaint to Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukumar, alleging “massive irregularities” in the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls in the state and demanded an immediate inquiry and mandatory door-to-door re-verification of all enumeration forms. Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar rejected the opposition charge and accused them of “engaging in politics” over the issue. Invoking powers under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), headed by Deputy Commissioner Somashekar S.J., issued an order on Monday restricting public access to vulnerable areas during the monsoon as a public safety measure. The order, issued under Section 34(c) of the Act, empowers authorities to regulate and restrict entry into disaster-prone areas. It also cites relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Under the restrictions, the public has been barred from entering rivers, streams, waterfalls, reservoirs, backwaters and other water bodies for bathing and swimming. During the proceedings conducted under Section 64 A of Karnataka Forest Act, 1963, the court of the authorised officer and Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bengaluru Urban, N.
