The post has been lying vacant ever since Rakshith, who was earlier serving as Commissioner, was appointed as private secretary to Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah. Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Wednesday (July 15), Mr. Kautilya, who is also the BJP’s OBC Morcha president, said the functioning of MDA, which had been in the news over the alleged scam relating to the 50:50 ratio scheme, has been seriously affected without a Commissioner. He also questioned the allocation of the Urban Development portfolio to Mr. Yathindra in view of the allegations of his family members’ involvement in the scam. With the investigation into the alleged scam still continuing, Mr. Yathindra should not have been allocated the Urban Development portfolio. The decision followed the petitioners’ commitment to provide a structured Rs 5 lakh compensation package to the child’s family. A single-judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna allowed the petition filed by Velu alias Velmayil Somu and two others. In its order dated July 9, the bench said, “The arrangement fashioned in the present case is intended to preserve not merely the compensation, but the future of those children (two daughters), who continue to look to their parents for hope after the family has endured an irreplaceable loss.” As per the FIR registered on May 27 by the Rajarejeshwari Nagar police station in Bengaluru, the toddler allegedly wandered onto the petitioners’ premises, where construction activity was in progress. The event was a public consultation on the draft Karnataka Apartment Ownership & Management Act (KAOMA) 2025, chaired by the Chief Minister, at Professor U. R. A 34-year-old man allegedly hacked his mother, grandmother and uncle to death before dying by suicide early on Saturday in Bengaluru’s Kottigepalya, police said. India News City deputy commissioner of police (West ) N Yathish said that the preliminary probe suggested that the accused suffered from mental health issues. “The probe indicates that he attacked and killed his mother,grandmother and uncle with a sharp weapon at around 7am while his father was away from home. Neighbours rushed to the house amid the commotion and managed to overpower him and lock him inside a room before calling police. He died by suicide before he could be taken into custody,” he said. Senior officers and forensic experts visited the scene and collected evidence. Police said the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination before being returned to family members, and a case of murder was registered under relevant sections of the BNS.
