Eighteen workers are trapped under the structure. Kolkata under-construction warehouse collapse updates West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reached the accident site along with a few Ministers from his Cabinet. “All the agencies are working together. We have rescued 21 persons of which three have died,” Mr. Adhikari told media persons at the accident site. About 18 persons are still trapped inside, contact has been established between them and rescue personnel, he said. Rescue teams, doctors and personnel of the Kolkata Police reached the spot, and attempts are being made to bring out workers trapped under the debris. The southwest monsoon has become active over the state under the influence of favourable wind patterns and a strong moisture flow from the Bay of Bengal, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata. For South Bengal, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next few days. Districts including East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, Purulia and Bankura are likely to experience thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph. In South Bengal, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected during the same period. Isolated heavy rainfall may occur in some districts.
