Allahabad HC Pulls Up POCSO Judge for Ignoring Medical Injuries in Kushinagar Rape Trial

3 min readLucknowMar 22, 2026 01:51 PM IST The Allahabad High Court has sought an explanation from a special Pocso court judge who failed to examine the medical report and injury marks of a minor rape victim, which led to the acquittal of the accused in the case. In its order delivered on Tuesday, a bench of Justices Salil Kumar Rai and Dr Ajay Kumar II also questioned the prosecution for not examining the doctor who conducted the medical examination of the girl and the trial court for not summoning the doctor as a court witness to explain the medico-legal report. The bench observed, “We are pained to observe that trial Judge has not mentioned in the impugned judgment the injuries found on the body of the victim, whereas Circular Letter dated 3rd March, 2002 & Circular Letter dated 3rd March, 1982 of High Court clearly directs the Judicial Officers to invariably reproduce in their judgments, the injuries from the injury reports of the injured persons.” The high court was hearing an appeal filed by …

Uttar Pradesh: A day old baby disappeared from Kushinagar Medical College

A day-old baby boy has gone missing from the special newborn care unit of Kushinagar Medical College here, police said on Thursday. According to officials, Pradeep Kumar`s wife Reena delivered the child on Tuesday evening. The newborn was shifted to the special newborn care unit after a nurse claimed that he has breathing issues. On Wednesday morning, when Pradeep went to see his son, the baby was missing from the ward despite his name being listed in the register. The family informed police and protested in the hospital, accusing a staff nurse for the infant going missing. Police have questioned nurses and guards on duty. Later, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Siddharth Verma and Padrauna Circle Officer (CO) also visited the hospital for inquiry. ASP Verma said the disappearance is a “serious matter” and the probe has been assigned to the CO. Despite searches, the missing infant has so far not been traced. Image Source : X Illegally constructed mosque demolished An illegally constructed mosque is demolished on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar. Bulldozers began tearing down the three-storey Madni mosque at 10 AM on Sunday under strict security. The demolition operation was initiated after the stay order issued by the high court lapsed on February 8. As per the police, the area was sealed and the demotion happened as per the proper process. Security forces deployed  Authorities, including Circle Officer Kundan Singh and SDM Yogeshwar Singh, arrived at the site early Sunday morning with police force to ensure the process went smoothly. The area has been sealed and additional security measures have been implemented.
