Trafficker hired Indians for Chinese cyber fraud firms in Laos, held after 2,500 km chase | Latest News India

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a man from Telangana capital Hyderabad, who was allegedly involved in the illegal trafficking of Indian youths and forced them to work in fake call centres engaging in cyber fraud.  Special Cell’s deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Manoj C said the accused Kamran Haider alias Zaidi was nabbed from Hyderabad after a long chase spanning 2,500 kilometres.  Zaidi carried a reward of ₹2 lakh declared by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), on the information leading to his arrest, PTI reported. Defence minister Rajnath Singh is likely to meet his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun in Laos next week on the sidelines of the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Plus, people aware of the matter said on Friday. Their presence on the same platform comes just after the disengagement at Depsang and Demchok and the resumption of patrolling in both areas of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Mr. Singh will visit Laos from November 20 to 22 for the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM Plus), officials confirmed. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held their first formal bilateral meeting in five years on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, during which they welcomed the agreement for a resolution of the military standoff at the LAC announced just the previous week. Vientiane, Laos: India today strongly rejected claims made by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau that “safety of Canadians” was discussed when he came face-to-face with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Laos, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit. The two leaders exchanged greetings. “There was no substantive discussion between PM Modi and Prime Minister Trudeau in Vientiane,” government sources told NDTV, saying the two leaders only greeted each other when they came face-to-face in Laos.
