On November 14, NDA is going to form the government once again under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.” This came after Tejashwi Yadav exuded confidence that Mahagathbandhan will form the next government in Bihar, and the swearing-in will take place on November 18, just four days after the declaration of results. “You can see there is ‘maha jungle raaj’ in Bihar. Why migration, jobs will shape the campaigns of key Bihar poll players – NDA to Mahagathbandhan | Political Pulse News

In Bihar, unemployment, poverty and migration have been perennial election issues. With the state heading to the Assembly polls in October-November this year, major parties have again started building up their campaign on these issues. The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government and the principal Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have often engaged in “credit wars” for job-creation initiatives, going back to their days in the Mahagathbandhan government before Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) chief, returned to the NDA fold in January 2024. Last month, the Congress, which is a key constituent of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, launched a “Palayan Roko, Naukri Do (stop migration, give jobs)” yatra, while the BJP, senior ally of the JD(U), made special efforts with its nine-day Bihar Diwas celebrations to reach out to the Bihari migrants across the country. There was no open discussion about the CM face during the coordination committee meeting held at the RJD office on Thursday. Products of the 1974 JP movement, the trajectories of Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar tell the story of Bihar politics of the last four decades and more. And, they continue to remain curious case studies. Over the weekend, Nitish, the Bihar Chief Minister, said amid his ongoing Pragati Yatra that “it was a mistake on his part to switch sides twice and he would now remain with the BJP-led NDA forever”. In Muzaffarpur on Sunday, he said, “Those who were in power before us … did they do anything? People used to fear stepping out of their homes after sunset. I had by mistake aligned with them a couple of times.” The Bihar CM’s comments clearing the air on his political stance came days after RJD chief Lalu Prasad attempted to warm up to him by saying, “If Nitish Kumar decides to join us, he is always welcome. We will work together.” In a 2015 interview to this correspondent, Nitish Kumar recounted how he supported Prasad’s claim to the Leader of the Opposition post in …

After cold shoulder from NDA, an old RJD ally returns with three Lok Sabha seats as welcome gift | Elections News

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has surrendered three Lok Sabha seats from its quota of 26 in Bihar for Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) that joined the Mahagathbandhan on Friday, four years after it exited the alliance on a bitter note. The Mukesh Sahani-led VIP will contest the Gopalganj, Motihari and Jhanjharpur seats. Sahani, an EBC leader who projects himself as “son of Mallah”, returned to the Mahagathbandhan after being cold-shouldered by the BJP-led NDA. Sahani had walked out of Mahagathbandhan before the 2020 Assembly polls and had won four seats as an NDA ally. Later, its three MLAs switched to the BJP and one legislator died. VIP can shift a good chunk of Mallah votes to the INDIA bloc in constituencies such as Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Motihari and Jhanjharpur. Sahani is most likely to contest from Jhanjharpur. Welcoming Sahani’s decision to return to Mahagathbandhan, leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said: “We are very happy that Mukesh Sahani is now with uw. Sahani has taken an important decision at a time we all are trying to save …
