In a first, a Nihang faction participated in the Shahi Snan (holy dip) alongside the three traditional Sikh akharas at the ongoing Mahakumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Nihangs are a distinct warrior order within the Sikh community. The announcement was made by Jathedar Nihang Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur of the Nihang Dal known as Misl Shaheedan Nihang Baba Fakir Singh Rasulpur (Ayodhya Wale). He was interacting with mediapersons at the BJP office in Chandigarh on Wednesday afternoon. Shahi Snan rituals took place on January 14, January 29 and February 3 at the Mahakumbh. Delhi Railway Station Stampede Update: 15 Dead, Probe Ordered

New Delhi: At least 15 people were killed and several were injured in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday, caused by a sudden rush of passengers who tried to board trains for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.  In a statement, the Ministry of Railways said a high-level inquiry has been ordered in the “unfortunate incident”.  The injured were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain (LNJP) Hospital for treatment.  The deputy commissioner of police (railway) said many people were present on platform number 14 when the Prayagraj Express train was standing at the platform. Feb 09, 2025 11:10 AM IST The truck overturned after the collision which took place at around 1.30 am on Satna-Chitrakoot state highway. Three persons were killed and ten others injured when a mini truck carrying people to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh collided with an SUV in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Sunday, police said. The occupants of the SUV, with which the mini truck collided, were going to Damoh after returning from Prayagraj via Chitrakoot.(Representative Image) The truck overturned after the collision which took place at around 1.30 am on Satna-Chitrakoot state highway, located 45 km from the district headquarters, Majhgawa police station in-charge Aditya Narayan Dhurve said. The incident led a traffic jam on the road which was later cleared by police. The deceased were occupants of the pickup truck (mini truck), which was carrying people from Jabalpur in MP to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to attend the ongoing Maha Kumbh, the official said. Monday’s Basant Panchami ‘Amrit Snan’ saw over 2.5 crore devotees taking a dip at the Maha Kumbh under revised security measures. Airfares for Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj have jumped multi-fold on account of the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025, with the air ticket prices, for instance, between Delhi and the city hosting the mega fair, rising up to 21 per cent and flights from Bengaluru going 41 per cent costlier, as per reports. Bloomberg file photo While the price of a flight ticket between Delhi and Prayagraj is ₹5,748 (per person), people travelling to the Uttar Pradesh city from financial capital Mumbai will have to shell ₹6,381 (up 13%), news agency PTI reported citing travel portal ixigo. Passengers flying from IT hub Bengaluru will have to spend ₹11,158 (up 41 per cent) on their tickets, while the price for those arriving from Ahmedabad is ₹10,364, an increase of 41 per cent. However, the rise in ticket fare is the steepest for flights from Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal – ₹17,796 from ₹2,977 last year, an addition of 498 per cent.
