ACCUSING the Congress of consistently ignoring him and not supporting him, Sangram Thopte, former MLA of Bhor constituency of Pune district, on Sunday announced his decision to join the BJP. The Congress said although it took all efforts to stop him from leaving the party, Thopte was in no mood to listen. ”Today, I held a meeting with my party workers. They said I have been consistently working for the Congress but the party has always ignored me…The party workers said people have elected me twice. They said I have undertaken development works but if I have to give momentum to the development works, I will have to join another party. And therefore, I have taken a decision….,” Thopte said at a press conference on Sunday. Thopte belongs to a politically influential family.
