Share of females in India’s labour force jumped from 23.3 pc to 40 pc in 7 years: Mandaviya

Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted on Tuesday that the female labour force participation rate in India has jumped from 23.3 per cent in 2017–18 to 40 per cent in 2025 reflecting the increasing empowerment of women in the country.  Addressing the ‘SwigStree: Celebrating Women on the Move,’ an event organised by food delivery startup Swiggy, the minister underlined that the equitable participation of women in the workforce is both a social imperative and an economic necessity. File | Photo Credit: ANI Taking another step in his push to revive Formula One in the country, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) to discuss a framework that would create a “strong pipeline” of drivers and technicians. The meeting was held in the national capital recently and was also attended by sports secretary Hari Ranjan Rao, joint secretary (sports) Kunal and FMSCI council member Vicky Chandhok among others. Mr. Mandaviya had visited the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, which had hosted F1 races from 2011 to 2013 before taxation issues caused an abrupt end to the event. “We discussed and look at the possibility of bringing Formula One and MotoGP to India. Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, on Friday addressed the Sports Governance Conclave organised by the Government of India, in association with the Government of Gujarat and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. The conclave was attended by representatives of National Sports Federations (NSFs), State Olympic Associations, and members of the IOA Executive Council. Addressing the gathering, the Minister outlined the Government’s clear and uncompromising priorities for India’s sports ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on governance reforms, competitive exposure, systematic talent identification and nurturing from grassroots to elite levels, strengthening the coaching ecosystem, and expanding private sector participation in sports infrastructure, academies, and leagues.
