Sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya asks NSFs to avoid needless litigation over elections | Sport-others News

The government has directed the national sports federations (NSFs) to get their house in order, asking office-bearers not to focus on holding on to their positions for a long time and the need to avoid needless litigation over election results. With government efforts geared towards the ultimate aim of hosting the 2036 Olympics, sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya stressed that the requirements of the athletes be put front and centre as India targets a bigger medal haul at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. “All federations have to adopt good governance in their functioning. The elections need to be transparent. People have a habit of going to courts if they lose elections. On the other hand, there are many individuals who keep sticking to their posts. This should not happen as it creates problems for our athletes,” Mandaviya said at a round-table meeting with the NSFs on Tuesday. Emphasising on the need for “greater transparency and accountability” in the functioning of the NSFs, the minister asked all stakeholders to be on the same page for better performances …
