Thanjavur District Collector Priyanka Pankajam has declared a local holiday across the district on March 2 in view of the Masi Magam festival. (News18 Tamil) According to an official announcement, government offices and educational institutions that remain closed on the day will function as usual on Saturday, March 14, to compensate for the holiday. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip in sacred waters on this day helps cleanse sins and brings divine blessings. The occasion is also associated with the belief that deities descend to bless devotees.
