IPL Auction 2025: Coming into the auctions with a limited purse of Rs 41 crore, Rajasthan Royals focused on acquiring key players and strong overseas players at minimal price at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Their main focus over the course of the two days was Jofra Archer, whom they spent Rs 12.5 crore on. Their other big buy was Tushar Deshpande, another pace bowler who was in the race for the Purple Cap last season at the Chennai Super Kings. RR even acquired two Sri Lankan spinners, Wainindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana at Rs 5.25 crore and Rs 4.4 crore respectively. Even after coming into the auction with one of the lowest purses, they have made a squad that could stitch up a very strong Playing XI, with perfect balance of batters, bowlers and all rounders. But the player that is to make the headlines not just for the Royals but the entire IPL is 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the the team bought for a staggering price of Rs 1.1 crore. IPL Auction 2025: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had the second biggest purse at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, heading in with Rs 83 crore. RCB were expected to go after big names and use their RTM for players like Mohammed Siraj. Teams had geared up to go against RCB to fight for KL Rahul as well, but they pulled out of the bidding war once the price reached Rs 10.75 crore, with the Karnataka batter eventually being bought by Delhi Capitals at Rs 14 crore. At first glance, even after having spent 82.25 crore, the team doesn’t come off as the strongest team. But closer look at the roster and balance suggests that the team has been formed carefully analysing the requirements of the team. RCB’s probable XI is a well-knit pack of players that can each cause trouble to their opponents. RCB will have a reunion with Indian veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he would be paired up with Josh Hazlewood to hopefully pick up wickets in the Powerplay. With Virat Kohli seemingly back …

Quick comment: Why Punjab Kings went after Shreyas Iyer aggressively, despite him being largely invisible | Cricket News

Quick comment: Why Punjab Kings went after Shreyas Iyer aggressively, despite him being largely invisible | Cricket News

If Rishabh Pant walking away as the most expensive player at Rs 27 crore was a certainty, Punjab Kings shelling out Rs 26.75 crore for Shreyas Iyer after staving off Delhi Capital’ persistence was unprecedented. His name barely made any noise, or even a whisper in the days leading up to the auction. It could be that he had been lying low in the past few months, largely confined to domestic toils. Then, cricketers like Shreyas Iyer are always in demand. There are compelling factors that make him a hot entity on the auction table. He is an experienced, proven and reliable batsman. While there has not been an earth-shatteringly standout season, Shreyas Iyer has been consistent. In five of the nine he has scored over 400 runs, winning several matches en route. In the last season, he upped his strike rate from the early 130s to mid-140s. There are little doubts about his stroke-play. The short-balls don’t harangue him in this format as much as in Test cricket. At his best, Shreyas Iyer is …

The classy yet explosive opener boasts a total of 4683 runs in the tournament, playing with a strike rate of 134.61. He has four centuries to his name and a high score being 132* in 2020, the season in which he also won the Orange Cap.
