BJP, Shiv Sena mock Pakistan’s Nobel Peace Prize claims for Sharif

As sections of Pakistani media claimed that the country’s diplomatic intervention in the Iran-US crisis merits consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize, political leaders from the BJP and Shiv Sena on Friday dismissed the idea as `a joke.` They argued that if those accused of promoting terrorism are considered for such an honour, then even Adolf Hitler would qualify for the Nobel Prize. The debate gained traction after US President Donald Trump stated that he had agreed to a ceasefire “based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan,” adding that they had “requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran”. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also indicated that Tehran had accepted the ceasefire “in response to the brotherly request of Prime Minister Sharif,” further fuelling claims of Pakistan’s diplomatic role. Reacting to it, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC questioned Pakistan’s credibility in seeking global recognition for peace efforts. “I don’t know who Pakistan is a puppet of. They are not even capable of …

Bullock carts, dhols, and defiance: Haryana farmers mock new procurement rules | Chandigarh News

3 min readChandigarhApr 10, 2026 08:10 AM IST A section of farmer unions in Haryana Thursday announced a four-hour highway blockade on Saturday to oppose the state government’s new Aadhaar-based biometric verification for wheat procurement at mandis. Some farmers also staged symbolic protests by bringing their produce in bullock carts, mocking the requirement of photographing tractors and recording vehicle numbers. The government has introduced geofencing around mandis and warehouses to monitor crop and vehicle movement, as part of a three-tier crop verification system to prevent paddy from neighbouring states entering Haryana markets. Officials say this system will match crops brought to procurement centres with those registered by farmers on government portal, making verification more reliable. However, farmers argue the process has become excessively burdensome. Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Suresh Koth from Hisar said, “How many times do we have to prove we are genuine farmers? First, we register on the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora portal, then we wait for our turn in the mandi, and once there, we face biometric checks, tractor photos, and endless …

‘I expected people to mock me’: Liam Rosenior laughs off ridicule as Chelsea surge under new head coach | Football News

2 min readFeb 10, 2026 05:08 PM IST When Liam Rosenior walked into Chelsea’s training ground as head coach, he knew the jokes were coming. “My background is different from managers at other top clubs,” he admitted. “I expected people to mock me.” The ridicule arrived quickly. Social media lit up with memes comparing him to Will McKenzie, the awkward teenager from The Inbetweeners. Rosenior doesn’t shy away from it. “I’ve seen the memes. I can laugh at them. But I also know what I bring to this job.” What he has brought, so far, is results. Seven wins in his first nine matches have steadied Chelsea and given fans reason to believe in the team again. Next up is Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, a fixture Rosenior calls “a really difficult game.” Chelsea’s decision to hire him was bold. He had impressed at Strasbourg, part of the same ownership group, but few expected him to leap straight into one of England’s biggest jobs. Rosenior sees it differently. “I’m proud of where I come from. …
