Tahawwur Rana extradition (File Image) The Centre has appointed advocate Narender Mann as the Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the trial in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case in which Tahawwur Rana is being extradited from the US. A gazette notification, dated April 9, 2025, was issued on Thursday in this regard. “The Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008), read with sub-section (8) of Section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, hereby appoints Shri Narender Mann, Advocate, as Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the trial of NIA case RC-04/2009/NIA/DLI and other connected matters on behalf of the National Investigation Agency before the NIA Special Court, Delhi and the Appellate Courts, for a period of three years from the date of publication of this notification or until the completion of the trial, …

Image Source : X 26/11 attack convict Tahawwur Rana. The US Supreme Court has cleared Mumbai attack convict Tahawwur Rana’s extradition to India, dismissing his review petition against the move. Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is wanted in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, in view of which India sought for the extradition.  This marked Rana’s last legal chance not to be extradited to India. Earlier, he lost a legal battle in several federal courts, including the US Court of Appeals for the North Circuit in San Francisco. Rana on November 13 filed a “petition for a writ of certiorari” before the US Supreme Court.
