Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the first operational section of India’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will begin services next year, reported the ANI. Speaking at the HYSEA GCCS & IT Roundtable in Hyderabad, the minister said the Surat-Bilimora stretch will be the first part of the country’s inaugural high-speed rail corridor to become operational. Vaishnaw said the remaining sections of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor will be opened gradually. According to the minister, the rollout will continue from Vapi to Surat, followed by Vapi to Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad to Thane, and finally Ahmedabad to Mumbai, the news agency reported. He said the phased opening will allow different parts of the corridor to become operational as construction progresses. A worker died after a temporary structure collapsed at a construction site on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor in Gujarat’s Anand district on Tuesday. “Preliminary information suggests that four workers were trapped between concrete blocks, two of them have been rescued. One of the workers died in hospital,” PTI quoted Gaurav Jasani, superintendent of police (SP). According to an official of National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), a temporary structure of steel and concrete blocks being used for well foundation work fell down. `100 pc land acquisition completed for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project`

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday said it has completed 100 per cent land acquisition for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Rail Corridor, popularly known as the bullet train project, across Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also shared the status of land acquisition on X, saying the entire 1389.49 hectares of land required for the project has been acquired. The high-speed rail line is being built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The NHSRCL, in a release, said that all civil contracts for the project were awarded for Gujarat and Maharashtra, while 120.4 km of girders had been launched and 271 km of pier casting completed. “The laying of the first reinforced concrete (RC) track bed for the MAHSR corridor track system, as used in Japanese Shinkansen, has started in Surat and Anand. This is for the first time the J-slab ballastless track system is being used in India,” the release stated. At least 1,374.20 hectares has been acquired for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, famous as bullet train, accounting for nearly 99% of the total land required, according to the Union Ministry of Railways documents seen by News18. The bullet train will pass through Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Maharashtra, with 100% of land acquired in the Union Territory. In Gujarat, 943.53 Ha out of 954.3 Ha has been acquired, accounting for 98.87% of the total land required in the state. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the entire 7.90 Ha land and in Maharashtra, 422.77 Ha out of 430.45 Ha (98.2%) has been acquired, according to the ministry’s document, issued last week. The total land required for the project is 1,392.63 Ha. “Approximately 1,374.20 Ha (98.68%) land has been acquired,” the document reads. Until July approximately 1,264 Ha (90.5%) land was acquired. “The total cost of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project was estimated as Rs 1,08,000 crore in 2015.
