RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to interact Gen-Z in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Aug 15

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat will interact with students and youngsters at a programme organised by the Lokmat Media Group in Nagpur on August 15, event organisers announced, reported PTI.  The event will be held days after the RSS chief interacted with ‘Gen-Z’ at an event in Mumbai. The programme, being held to mark Independence Day, will take place at Kasturchand Park, the media group said in a statement. According to the release, Bhagwat will perform the flag-hoisting ceremony at 9.30 am at Kasturchand Park, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a 200-foot-high national flag erected by the Lokmat Media Group in March. This will be followed by a special programme during which he will interact with youngsters on the topic, “The contribution of youth to India’s bright future”. A 16-year-old girl was allegedly held captive, her limbs tied, in a rented house in Nagpur and repeatedly sexually abused by a youth from Thane whom she had befriended on Instagram, police said on Wednesday. Police broke open the door of the room in the city’s Dighori area around 11 pm on Monday and rescued the girl. The accused, Nirbhay Pakhare, was arrested at the spot, officials said. The civic authorities in Nagpur district of Maharashtra have announced a holiday for schools, Anganwadis and colleges on July 29, 2026 as a precautionary step after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rain alert in parts of state. The order was issued by Nagpur District Collector and District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Kumar Aashirwad. The holiday applies to government and private educational institutions, including primary and secondary schools, colleges and coaching classes in Nagpur city and nearby areas such as Nagpur Rural, Hingna and Kamptee, officials said. An autorickshaw driver was killed and two others were injured after a gang allegedly carried out three robberies at different locations along Gorewada-Pitesur Road in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district during the early hours of Saturday, reported the PTI. Police said the incidents occurred within a short span of time, prompting an overnight operation that led to the arrest of all seven accused. According to police, 35-year-old Mohammad Kashid Mohammad Rafiq, a resident of Mominpura, was returning in his autorickshaw with a catering team when the gang intercepted the vehicle near a temple at around 12.30 am, as per the PTI. The attackers allegedly stabbed Kashid during the robbery. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A catering worker, Kamlesh Jadiya, was seriously injured while attempting to protect the driver during the attack.
