The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak was orchestrated through an extensive digital network in which confidential examination papers were circulated via WhatsApp, Telegram and electronic files several days before the examination. In a chargesheet filed before the Special CBI Court at Rouse Avenue, the agency claimed that forensic analysis of seized mobile phones and other electronic devices uncovered chats, PDF documents, photographs of question papers and other digital records that helped investigators trace the alleged movement of the leaked paper from National Testing Agency (NTA) subject experts to intermediaries and eventually to candidates. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas observed that it was undisputed that, if the salary income of the petitioners’ parents was taken into account, they would not fall in the NCL category. “This Court is of the opinion that, as the parents of the petitioners in both these writ petitions have income as well as wealth, far in excess of the limits prescribed, they cannot fall in the category of Non-Creamy Layer,” the July 29 ruling on the petitions filed by two 17-year-olds stated. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against 13 accused in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case before the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi, reported the ANI. The charge sheet was submitted by the CBI’s Economic Offences unit and is expected to come up before a special fast-track court on Wednesday. The case has been registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The charges relate to alleged examination fraud, criminal conspiracy, corruption and the use of unfair means during a public examination.
