Aashiqui 2’s Mohit Suri to direct a new-age love story with YRF

Mohit Suri, known for Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, is reportedly set to collaborate with YRF for a new-age love story.  As per a press release, a source revealed, “The company will produce a young love story that will touch your hearts, and they have partnered with one of the best filmmakers of this genre, Mohit Suri. Mohit has delivered huge hits with this genre and he will direct this film aimed at the youth of the country!” “Mohit has an amazing track record of making soul-stirring romantic films throughout his career and he is being backed by a banner like YRF that is known to have produced the biggest romantic films that this country has ever seen. Kannada cinema: How new-age filmmakers are reinventing an 100-year-old industry

2023 truly seemed to be the year of Kannada cinema. Some well-crafted films such as Daredevil Musthafa, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (Side A and Side B), Aachar & Co, Hostel Hudugaru Bekkagiddare and Swathi Muthina Male Haniye, made waves at the box office. They got the non-Kannada audience to throng theatres as well. There has definitely been a seismic shift in the last five years in the Kannada film industry in terms of the kind of films being made. New-age number for masses

The title track of the December 9 release, Blurr sees musicians Shivangi Bhayana and  Rishi Dutta make their Bollywood debut with a number that has two versions. While the female version pairs Bhayana with Dee MC, rapper Mellow D renders the male version. Interestingly, it was producer Taapsee Pannu who wanted the title track to be a rap iteration. “We approached the [co-producer] for work, in general, and played a few songs. He highlighted the situation against which this track was set. The idea was to cater to new-age [listeners] and still make it a Bollywood number apt for the masses,” says Bhayana, who makes her transition to composition after being a singer.
