Two passersby were also injured during the incident. As per a report by the Dawn, the police said that Zubair Baloch was taken to the Civil Hospital in Karachi after he was shot. He sustained injuries on his chest and abdomen and was undergoing surgery. A social activist told Dawn that the attackers had covered their faces and fled when a nearby shopkeeper returned fire. South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that  Zubair Baloch was sitting outside his residence in Singu Lane, Lyari, when armed suspects on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled the spot.
