Air India flight briefly enters Pakistani airspace near Amritsar; airline, DGCA initiate probe

An Air India Airbus A321 aircraft operating flight AI-479 from Delhi to Amritsar briefly infringed into Pakistani airspace on Monday during a go-around manoeuvre at Amritsar airport. The incident has triggered an internal investigation by the airline and regulatory authorities.

According to an official statement, the aircraft VT-PPV was asked to hold due to runway inspection following a bird strike incident. While commencing the approach during radar vectoring, the plane marginally entered Pakistani airspace. The event was promptly coordinated with Pakistan ATC authorities. The aircraft eventually diverted back to Delhi and landed safely.
