Orissa High Court has refused to interfere in the recruitment process of the Odisha Government, which did not earmark reservations for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates for the selection of assistant professor in the super-speciality stream. Adjudicating petitions filed by two candidates belonging to reserved categories, Orissa High Court Judge Biraja Prasanna Satpathy said the court found no illegality in the advertisement issued by State government. Odisha Public Service Commission had come out with an advertisement in 2021 for recruitment of post of assistant professor (Super Speciality). Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar In a key development related to the disqualification of defected legislators in Telangana, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar’s office has approached the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the deadline to complete hearings in the pending disqualification petitions. The move comes as the three-month period set by the Supreme Court for concluding the inquiry into the defection cases expires on October 31. On July 31, the apex court had directed the Speaker to complete the proceedings “at all costs within three months” and to take action against any of the defectors. This order followed petitions by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) seeking disqualification of its former MLAs who joined or supported the Congress. Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Monday conducted grievances redressal programme at the district police headquarters and directed the officers to respond effectively to the petitions. A total of 70 complaints were registered from all over the district. The SP interacted with the complainants and assured them swift resolution to their issues as per the law. The complaints at the grievance cell were more about domestic disputes, land issues, harassment by in-laws, online fraud, and other civil and criminal matters. NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a batch of petitions alleging paper leak during a preliminary examination conducted by the Bihar Public Services Commission (BPSC) on December 13 last year, stressing that the tendency to challenge every public examination in the courts caused difficulties in governments recruiting people.
