The vehicle bearing a Punjab number plate was caught by the Flying Squad team in the New Delhi district, the official said. The Flying Squad attends to all Model Code of Conduct violations and all complaints related to liquor, arms and cash used for elections. The Punjab government dismissed claims that it owned the car intercepted in Delhi. The vehicle’s number plate was forged and fake as it could be tracked to a different car not owned by the Punjab government, it said. Image Source : PTI Chhattisgarh: 50 kg IED planted by Naxalites recovered in Bijapur updates Security forces on Thursday recovered a powerful 50 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, the police said. An IED planted by Naxals, was defused by security officials in Bijapur. The remote-controlled IED under a culvert near Timapur Durga temple on Basaguda-Awapalli Road was detected by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the 168th battalion of the CRPF when it was out on de-mining exercise, an official said. The Naxalites had removed some stones and cement to create a cavity for the IED which was then covered with stones, he said. But the metal detector found it, the police official added. The BDS first tried to remove it safely, but since the IED was planted deep under the surface, it was neutralised through a controlled explosion, he said. The culvert was damaged in the process and was being repaired to enable resumption of traffic, the official said. The IED could be activated through a remote …

The incident occurred in the early hours in Basaguda police station area when a joint team of security forces was out on an area domination operation, a senior police official said. Personnel belonging to the 229th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 206th battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite jungle warfare unit of CRPF, were involved in the operation, he said. As per preliminary information, the personnel inadvertently came in contact with the pressure IED, triggering the blast and causing injuries to two of them, the official said. The injured constables, Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq, of the CoBRA 206th battalion, were evacuated and shifted to Basaguda CRPF camp where they were provided preliminary treatment, the official said, adding the duo was reported to be out …

B. Patil, Ministry of Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure has successfully planted 1.30 crore trees in Vijayapura, Karnataka, in collaboration with the local forest departments and NGOs since its inception in 2015. During FY2021-22, the Koti Vruksha Abhiyan succeeded in achieving its ambitious goal of planting one crore trees, by disseminating over 80 lakh saplings to farmers and the subsequent planting of over 50 lakh trees across over 100 block plantations, encompassing 5,000 hectares of land within the district. Notably, Vijayapur now houses one of the largest urban forest plantations, with over 60,000 saplings planted on over 600 acres on the city’s outskirts. 2 Men Who Plotted, Planted Bomb At Bengaluru Cafe Arrested From Bengal

Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested two key accused in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru last month. Mussavir Hussain Shazeb and Abdul Matheen Taha were arrested from Kanthi in Bengal’s East Midnapore district this morning, the agency said. While Shazeb planted the explosive device inside a bag at the cafe, Taha was responsible for planning the attack and their subsequent disappearance, the anti-terror agency said. Another key conspirator, Muzammil Shareef, who extended logistical support to the main accused, was arrested on March 26. On Friday morning, a NIA team traced the two men to Kolkata where they were living under fake names. In a joint operation, central intelligence agencies and police of West Bengal, Telengana, Karnataka, and Kerala police detained the accused. The agency had identified Shazeb and Taha, both residents of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district of Karnataka, as prime accused last week and conducted searches at 18 locations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh to arrest them.
