The deaths and injuries in Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli are a painful reminder that grievances met with force only deepen the crisis,” said CPI(M) leader and legislator M. Y. Tarigami. Pointing to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ruling on the 12 refugee seats he added that “this struggle must be resolved constitutionally and peacefully — through dialogue, not repression”. “We express solidarity with families of the fallen. We call for accountability, relief for affected communities, and a political solution that honours rights and dignity,” Mr. Tarigami said PDP leader and former minister Naeem Akhtar also appealed to Pakistan “to stop atrocities against our people in the part of our State that you hold”. “People’s demands cannot be …

Cross-LoC Trade Counted As Intra-State GST Since PoK Part Of India: J&K High Court | India News

Last Updated:November 29, 2025, 21:19 IST The judgment came while hearing a batch of petitions filed by traders who conducted barter-based cross-LoC exchanges between 2017 and 2019. J&K High Court The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Saturday ruled that trade across the Line of Control (LoC) between traders in the Union Territory and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) qualifies as intra-state trade under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. The court noted that PoK remains legally part of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The judgment came while hearing a batch of petitions filed by traders who conducted barter-based cross-LoC exchanges between 2017 and 2019. The petitioners challenged show-cause notices issued by GST authorities seeking tax payments, disputing the classification of both the territorial jurisdiction and the nature of the supply. A division bench of Justice Sanjeev Kumar and Justice Sanjay Parihar dismissed the petitions, holding that the traders must pursue the statutory remedies available under the CGST Act rather than bypassing them through writ petitions. “It is not in dispute that …

For the England cricketer, the start of hostilities between India and Pakistan earlier this month was un-nerving since he had family members in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) when India began Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile, he was in India with his wife and kids. The IPL 2025 season came to a standstill with the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals halted abruptly in the first innings in Dharamsala after blackouts in certain parts of the country. Talking about his own anxious response to the escalation between India and Pakistan, Moeen Ali said on the Beard Before Wicket podcast: “My parents were actually in Kashmir at the time… in Pakistan, only about an hour away from where the strikes happened probably. Maybe a bit farther. So it was a bit crazy and then they managed to get the only flights …
