Lord’s cricket ground ends its alliance with BrewDog after Tilray Brands who produces medicinal marijuana takes over Beer company

2 min readUpdated: Mar 12, 2026 10:43 PM IST An intense day of cricket and a cold beer in hand at Lord’s is a worthwhile fan experience. However, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns the Lord’s cricket ground have ended its alliance with the beer supplier BrewDog at the stadium after the beer’s brand and brewery were sold to Tilray Brands, which is known to make medicinal marijuana, following the alcoholic organisation’s getting into a turbulent period in its history. The deal between MCC and BrewDog was struck in 2024 when the former announced a first-of-its-kind deal to make BrewDog the official beer partners for the next four years; however, the deal has come to an end prematurely just after one year. In a letter to members, Robert Lawson, the MCC chief executive, said: “I am writing to inform you that the MCC Committee has taken the decision to end its contracts with BrewDog, both as an Official Partner of MCC and as the Official Beer Supplier at Lord’s. “Following recent changes to the brewery’s …

Sri Lanka and Chennai Super Kings’ batting all-rounder Kamindu Mendis pulled off a sensational catch during the side’s IPL 2025 match vs Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday. CSK batter Dewald Brevis smashed a powerful flat shot down the ground at long-off where Mendis was stationed. It was a half-volley from SRH pacer Harshal Patel and Brevis had slammed it really hard. The ball was curving away from Mendis but the ambidextrous jumped to his left to take a superb catch. “Catch of IPL,” said former India captain Ravi Shastri on-air. Meanwhile, his fellow commentator Ian Bishop, a former West Indies player said, “Which is his weak side we never know.” Even SRH CEO and co-owner Kavya Maran was also left impressed with the catch. According to a CREA report the thermal power plants of West Bengal emitted 313 kilotonnes of sulphur dioxide (SO₂) , based on the data from June 2022 to May 2023. The study engages in a comparison between thermal power plant emissions in West Bengal and paddy straw burning emissions in Punjab and Haryana and highlights the scale of SO₂ pollution. “Thermal power plants in West Bengal emit 313 kilotonnes of SO₂ annually—18 times more than the 17.8 kilotonnes emitted by burning 8.9 million tonnes of paddy straw,” the study said. While paddy straw burning causes seasonal spikes, thermal power plants represent a larger, persistent pollution source year-round, underscoring the need for stricter controls on thermal power plant emissions, the study added. Rafael Nadal retires: In his last match, Spaniard produces another ‘is he going to play every point like that?’ moment | Tennis News

When you think of Rafael Nadal’s incredible ability to fight for every point like his depended on it, you think of the famous Nike advert. The one where it is Nadal one side of the court running around the court and the other side keeps cutting to various other opponents… and in the end the voiceover adds: “Is he going to play every point like that?” From the time he broke through beating Carlos Moya as a 16-year-old phenom to the last ever match of his career, the answer to that question remained a resounding “yes”. Sure enough, Nadal could not conjure the fairytale ending his career deserved as the Spanish 22-times Grand Slam champion bowed out with defeat in the Davis Cup on an emotionally-charged and tearful night in Malaga on Tuesday. The 38-year-old’s legs and mind were as willing as ever but the magic was missing as he lost 6-4 6-4 to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in what proved to be his final competitive match. What a point from @RafaelNadal and @Boticvdz …

KL Rahul’s Brain Fade Produces ‘Most Bizarre Dismissal Of The Year’ In India A vs Australia Match. Watch

Sent to Australia, as part of the India A team, KL Rahul hasn’t done his reputation much good since arriving Down Under. Opening the batting, KL Rahul was dismissed for just 10 runs in 44 balls in the second unofficial Test in Melbourne. The batter was expected to deliver, having been dismissed for just 4 runs in 4 balls in the first innings of the same match. Up against spinner Corey Rocchiccioli, however, Rahul made an absolute mess as he directed the ball onto the stumps in a bizarre manner. While Rahul’s form has been a concern for the Indian team for a long time, his application has also come under scrutiny. The Karnataka lad was replaced by Sarfaraz Khan in the second and the third Test against New Zealand. The BCCI selection committee then decided to send him to Australia as part of the India A series, hoping to see him regain his form. But, the first Test only saw him accumulate 14 runs in two innings, with his latest dismissal producing …

Hylo Open badminton: Rakshitha Sree, with more emphasis on attack and aggression, produces a big win against world No 25 Gilmour | Badminton News

The instructions to Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj on match eve were clear: whether she was leading 20-10 or trailing 1-20, she was to pump her fist and shout at every point she snatched. “If you don’t remind her, she plays a silent game which doesn’t make sense on the international circuit. Gopi Sir called yesterday and strictly told us to follow that – no matter what the match situation, Shout,” coach Rahul Yadav says. Aggression was being systematically drilled into another talent on the Hyderabad courts, 8 years after PV Sindhu was taught to match her attack with voluble aggression. On Thursday, Rakshitha matched the hop-smashes of Scottish Kirsty Gilmour, beating the No 25 player 21-14, 21-12 in 36 minutes at the Hylo Open, in Saarbrucken Germany. It will be preposterous to make a direct comparison with Sindhu who had a World Championship bronze at 18 years. But Rakshitha’s rangy game, being honed at the Gopichand Academy, is very reminiscent of Sindhu’s. Rakshitha has a long way to go – she is still World No …

In a video going viral on social media, Kohli was seen having a long conversation about Ashwin regarding his bowling tactics. In the video, Kohli seemingly was advising Ashwin to take the ball away from Zakir Hasan and on the very next delivery, Ashwin struck by sticking to the plan. In visuals captured by the official broadcasters, Kohli went towards Ashwin and could be seemingly spotted advising the star Indian spinner to take the ball away from Zakir. The plan produced dividends as the 102-Test match veteran trapped the Bangladesh opener in front of the stumps. Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took two quick wickets to reduce Bangladesh to 26 for two in their second …
