Just before she was allegedly caught with heroin in her black Thar from Bathinda, constable Amandeep Kaur had uploaded a social media video in her uniform, violating instructions issued three years ago by Punjab’s police chief against personnel “modelling” on social media. Kaur’s followers have only doubled since her arrest on April 2 in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act case, from 30k to 60k. Even before her arrest, Kaur violated the department’s instructions that were issued twice following a petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High court against the online “misuse” of the police uniform.
