Asha Bhosle’s ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ was first offered to Lata Mangeshkar; was banned on Doordarshan, All India Radio | Bollywood News

4 min readNew DelhiUpdated: Apr 12, 2026 03:00 PM IST Veteran singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday, April 12, at the age of 92 at Mumbai Breach Candy Hospital. She sang over 12,000 songs in almost a dozen languages in a career spanning over eight decades, and some of her classics that came out back in the day continue to get the same kind of love from the fans. One of those songs is from the 1971 film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, “Dum Maaro Dum”. The song was filmed on a chillum-smoking character, played by Zeenat Aman, and was filmed against the background of the increasing “hippie culture” as it suggested that the increased usage of drugs was ruining an entire generation. But when the song was filmed and recorded, it seemed to glamourise everything that the film was trying to villainise. The song became an anthem for the youth. Despite the popularity, the song received a lot of criticism at the time and was briefly banned by All India Radio and Doordarshan as …

Rabb Da Radio 3 Box Office: Tarsem Jassar and Nimrat Khaira film collects Rs. 22 Cr worldwide in first week

Punjabi film Rabb Da Radio 3 has emerged as a HIT, with the film collecting Rs. 22 crore approx worldwide in its first week. Moreover, the trend is quite good, with the film seeing good growth over its opening weekend and then weekdays sustaining well. The domestic and overseas split for the Tarsem Jassar headlined threequel is Rs. 7.25 crore and Rs. 14.50 crore (USD 1.56 million) respectively.  The Punjabi film industry hasn’t had a great time at the box office lately, especially on the domestic side. There have been films that have done well overseas, some doing very well, but they either didn’t do well domestically or some of them didn’t even get a release, like Sardaar Ji 3 and Chal Mera Putt 4. Rabb Da Radio 3 has been a rare film which has done well in India, and it doesn’t hurt that overseas has contributed as well. There is still some work to do, but based on its trend and the fact that the film has an open run ahead with some …

Rabb Da Radio 3 Box Office: Tarsem Jassar, Nimrat Khaira starrer opens well in India, Posts Rs. 4 Cr plus day one worldwide

Punjabi film Rabb Da Radio 3 has taken a good start at the Indian box office, collecting Rs. 1.30 crore gross (Rs. 1.10 crore nett) approx on its opening day. Led by Tarsem Jassar, the third instalment in the franchise also performed well overseas, grossing around USD 325K (Rs. 3 crore) approx, taking its worldwide opening to Rs. 4.30 crore approx. It’s not as if Rs. 1 crore nett is a big number for a Punjabi film today; it used to be back in the mid 2010s, but lately Punjabi film box office is in tatters domestically, with the last film to have a Rs. 1 crore nett plus opening day being almost a year ago. In these circumstances, even this is to be seen in a more positive light than one would if everything were going well. There was a holiday for Good Friday yesterday. The holiday definitely helped in a big way overseas, though the boost in India needs to be seen. If it can grow today and then get the usual Sunday …

A new race whisperer for Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari driver to get different race engineer for radio messages | Motor-sport News

After a turbulent year in the wheel for Ferrari, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will have a new race engineer that communicated with him over the radio from the paddock during races this season. Riccardo Adami, Hamilton’s race engineer last season, was moved to another role with Ferrari. The testy radio conversations between Hamilton and Adami had made headlines during the British driver’s disappointing 2025 season. The terse on-air exchanges also coincided with Hamilton not finishing on the podium in a grand prix all year—which was the first time in his career that the Brit had not finished on podium at least once—in his first season at Ferrari following a blockbuster move from Mercedes. Race engineers are the ones that speak to drivers while they’re racing, to inform them of race incidents, car setup and strategy. Ahead of the start of preseason testing this month, the Italian team said Adami, who also worked as Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz’s engineer previously, would work with its driver academy and oversee test runs in older F1 cars, …
