The Pune Forest Division has announced the temporary closure of Sinhagad Fort for tourists on August 1 and 2, 2026, following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the district in Maharashtra. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Sinhagad region and the increased risk of landslides and rockfalls. According to the Forest Department, intense rainfall has been reported around the fort area, creating potentially dangerous conditions for visitors. Considering the threat to public safety, authorities have prohibited tourist movement to Sinhagad Fort and nearby areas during the two-day period.
