According to an official statement, Shrivastava is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), belonging to the 1990 batch. He holds a Master of Technology degree in Structural Engineering. Over three decades of experience Shrivastava brings more than 34 years of experience in Indian Railways, with a career spanning multiple zones and public sector units. The 60-year-old Congress worker was allegedly assaulted near a polling booth in Dharmadam constituency on Wednesday evening.  The injured has been identified as Prabhakaran, a resident of Kuzhil Peedika in Keezhathur.
