3 min readChennaiFeb 23, 2026 11:46 AM IST Many have spoken about Bollywood superstars working doubly hard despite reaching the heights of the Hindi film industry. Recently, veteran actor Govind Namdev spoke about his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, lauding both  stars for their dedication and discipline towards their work. ‘Akshay Kumar has no attitude, unlike many stars’ Govind described Akshay as extremely disciplined and also a chilled co-star who does not let losses affect him. Speaking to Lallantop, he said, “Akshay is a good human, and I think he is the most disciplined actor in the film industry. There is no other actor who is as disciplined as Akshay. He stays happy all the time, despite facing some loss, he doesn’t care about it. He keeps making jokes. Most of the stars keep an attitude but not him.” Govind also spoke fondly of Shah Rukh Khan and shared that the actor works for nearly 20 hours a day, often sleeping for barely three to four hours. U.P. is witnessing a model of renaissance under BJP regime, says Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the State has emerged as India’s ‘economic powerhouse’. | Photo Credit: File Photo Uttar Pradesh was considered a burden due to “economic distress, poor infrastructure, and lawlessness” before 2017, but has emerged as India’s “economic powerhouse” under his regime, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while responding to the discussion on the Governor’s address in the Assembly on Friday, the fifth day of the Budget Session. Highlighting the State’s “economic rise, infrastructure growth, improved law and order, and public welfare measures”, Mr. Adityanath said, “What was the situation before 2017? Mafia and criminals nurtured by the patronage of power were running a parallel government. Goonda tax, illegal extortion, and the ‘one district, one mafia’ trend were being promoted. The law had become the fiefdom of a few. Curfews and riots were common. Festivals and celebrations were synonymous not with faith, but fear. Earlier, neither daughters nor businessmen were safe. Police morale was shattered. The State had become synonymous with anarchy and instability. Today, Uttar Pradesh is in …

why India is nudging companies into the new tax regime| India News

Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) is a backstop corporate tax under Indian law that requires a company to pay at least 15% of its book profit when its normal income-tax liability is lower. MAT was introduced to bring so-called zero-tax companies with substantial book profits but little or no taxable income, often due to tax incentives or exemptions, into the tax net. Any MAT paid in excess of normal tax in a year could be carried forward as MAT credit to set off regular income-tax liability in subsequent years, subject to limits. MAT’s slow fade: why India is nudging companies into the new tax regime In 2019, the Indian Government reformed corporate tax by allowing domestic companies to opt into a new regime. Under this regime, a concessional rate of 22% applied if a company gave up specified incentives and holidays, and such companies were exempt from MAT. Under the old regime, domestic companies continued to be taxed at 25 or 30% (depending on turnover in preceding years). Those companies could still claim incentives and holidays, …

Palaniswami holds DMK regime responsible for the closure of 210 govt. schools

Edappadi K. Palaniswami. | Photo Credit: E. LAKSHMI NARAYANAN The AIADMK general secretary and Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Assembly, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Monday accused the DMK regime of having closed down 210 government schools in the last four-and-a-half years.  On the contrary, the previous AIADMK government had opened 248 primary schools, apart from upgrading 117 primary schools into middle schools; 1,079 middle schools into high schools and 604 high schools into higher secondary schools, Mr Palaniswami told people who gathered near a bus terminus on Tiruvallur-Uthukottai road in the Tiruvallur district. As for arts and science colleges in the State, 96 of them did not have principals. The government was not allowing  minority educational institutions to hire teachers, he alleged. Also, no permission was given to the government-aided colleges to recruit teaching and non-teaching staff, Mr Palaniswami said.  Contrasting the AIADMK regime’s performance in higher education with that of the current government,  the LOP said  sanction was obtained in one year for 11 medical colleges including one in Tiruvallur. His party, while …

‘Dangerous’: Sheikh Hasina on threats to India Northeast, says Yunus regime empowering extremism

Ousted former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina said statements – like the one a Bangladeshi politician recently made referring to India’s Northeast and the Chicken’s Neck – are “dangerous”, reflecting the extremist elements that have strengthened under the Muhammad Yunus-led current regime. Sheikh Hasina, former Bangladeshi prime minister, is in exile in India(AP/File) National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah recently contended in a fiery speech that Bangladesh can shelter separatist forces from India and sever the seven northeastern states – also known as the “seven sisters – from the rest of the country. A corridor in West Bengal’s Siliguri – commonly referred to as “Chicken’s Neck” – connects mainland India to the northeastern states. It is the most one of the most sensitive strategic bottlenecks in the world. “Such statements are dangerous and irresponsible, reflecting the extremist elements that have gained influence under Yunus. No serious leader would threaten a neighbour upon whom Bangladesh depends for trade, transit, and regional stability,” Sheikh Hasina said in an email interview with news agency ANI. ‘India …

Geoffrey Boycott slams McCullum-Stokes regime: ‘Hubris has taken over from common sense, and that cannot be allowed to carry on’ | Cricket News

Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took over the reins of the England Test side when the team was at a crossroads in the summer of 2023. Post the takeover, they have adapted attacking cricket as their method and given the players freedom to express themselves. In the span of over three years, the side did manage to pull off some remarkable wins but also suffered some humbling experiences. The tours in which any leadership group of the big three (England, Australia and India) is judged when they play against the other two, Stokes-McCullum duo with their Bazball approach could not alter the results as much. When the England side came to India in early 2024, they took a 4-1 drubbing, and in the ongoing Ashes series, they have lost the series after the first three Tests. And at home, they drew both against Australia and England in 2023 and 2025, respectively. Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott reckoned Hubris has taken over from common sense in the England side. However, he also acknowledged that the Bazball …
