Revanna on Tuesday said that the State government’s five guarantee schemes have played a significant role in improving the economic condition of people and that steps are being taken to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits. Chairing a review meeting on the implementation of the schemes at the Zilla Panchayat Hall in Kalaburagi, Mr. Revanna said that the government has initiated measures to curb misuse and irregularities detected during the implementation of the schemes. He said that around ₹14 crore to ₹15 crore that have been wrongly transferred to ineligible beneficiaries have already been recovered. Efforts are under way to recover nearly ₹100 crore more in coordination with banks, he added. K.M. Shivalinge Gowda, Arasikere MLA, has challenged JD(S) leader and former Minister H.D. Revanna to contest for the Assembly elections in 2028 from Arasikere constituency. “If he has guts, let him contest from Arasikere. The people of the constituency will give a fitting reply,” said Mr. Gowda without taking Revanna’s name. The Congress MLA said this at a programme organised to mark the achievement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah becoming the longest-serving Chief Minister, at Arasikere on January 11. Mr. Gowda’s statement gains significance in light of recent developments suggesting that Mr. Revanna might contest from Arasikere constituency instead of Holenarasipur in the 2028 Assembly polls. Two-thirds of Karnataka SIT funds spent on legal expenses in Prajwal Revanna cases | Bangalore News

Almost two-thirds of funds spent by Special Investigation Teams (SIT) formed to investigate various cases in Karnataka since 2023 went towards legal expenses in sexual assault cases involving former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, the Government said on Monday. While the total legal and investigation expenses incurred by the SITs in various cases amounted to Rs 4.54 crore, Rs 2.96 crore (65.19 per cent) was the cost of fighting the Revanna cases in the trial court, the Karnataka High Court, and the Supreme Court. Funds spent on investigating the sexual assault cases against Revanna amounted to Rs 33.91 lakh, according to a response tabled by Home Minister G Parameshwara in reply to an unstarred question raised by BJP MLA Munirathna during the winter session of the legislature. The total cost of investigation and legal fees in the cases against Revanna was Rs 3.29 crore. Bengaluru: Prime accused in the Karnataka obscene video scandal — former MP Prajwal Revanna who is the grandson of ex-Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was allowed by a special court on Saturday to view alleged videos of sexual assaults involving the victim in a closed court session. The Special Court for MLAs/MPs granted permission for Prajwal Revanna, his counsel, a technical team, and the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to review the confidential videos retrieved from the personal cellphone of the former MP’s driver, who had worked closely with him. Mr Revanna was brought to the court from the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara following the order of the High Court in this regard.
