Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Police have stepped up security at the residence of Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the online movement Cockroach Janta Party , in Waluj MIDC area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city in Maharashtra, an officer said on Saturday. In a major operation, an inter-state gas theft racket was busted by the Maharashtra State Level Vigilance Cell in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where officials seized LPG worth approximately Rs 1.26 crore, including two large tankers, an official statement said. The state-level vigilance team uncovered an inter-state network accused of stealing LPG meant for public distribution. Officials said the racket was depriving nearly 2,480 economically weaker households of their rightful monthly gas supply, it said. A team led by Ganesh Bellale laid a trap near a hotel on Vaijapur Road in the Gangapur area to bust the racket. Many restaurants in Maharashtra`s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have curtailed their menus or are planning to switch to dishes that can be cooked using wood or coal, while a few have shut down, owners told news agency PTI on Thursday, citing cooking gas supply disruptions. Manoj Kacchwa, a restaurant owner from the Kranti Chowk area of the city, claimed that they are finding it difficult to get commercial LPG cylinders amid the ongoing West Asia crisis. The wait time is too long, he said. “We are serving items that are cooked on a low flame. But this is not the case everywhere. Many of my friends who have hotels in Waluj, Ranjangaon, Bidkin and Chikalthana industrial areas have shut their hotels due to gas shortage,” he said. An eatery in the City Chowk area serving Chinese dishes remained closed. In a major outbreak, the Police have arrested a woman for allegedly staying in a hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on forged documents. The officials, while briefing further about the incident, said that they also found some international numbers, including those of the Afghan Embassy and Pakistan, on her phone.  As reported by news agency PTI, the police also found Rs 32 lakh deposited in her account from multiple sources and have issued notices to 13 persons from different parts of the country who allegedly transferred money to her.
