Customs officers at the Foreign Post Office (FPO) in Ahmedabad have seized a parcel originating from Thailand after discovering 467.5 grams of suspected ganja concealed inside and declared as “wooden blocks”, officials said on Tuesday. The seizure was made during the routine examination of imported parcels at the FPO. According to Customs, officers intercepted a suspicious carton arriving from Thailand that had been declared as “wooden blocks”. On opening the package, they found two polythene packets containing a substance suspected to be ganja (cannabis). In a major drive against illegal activities, the Gadchiroli Police conducted a special ‘Operation All Out’ and combing operation across Gadchiroli, Armori, and Chamorshi police station limits on Wednesday. During the operation, 13 cases were registered against illegal liquor trade, and contraband worth Rs 5,00,700 was seized. As part of the combing operation, 139 history-sheeters and known criminals were checked. The drive was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police M Ramesh and led by Additional SP Aniket Hirde. Police teams from Gadchiroli, Armori, and Chamorshi stations carried out raids at various locations, including hotels, lodges, and secluded spots. As many as 300 vehicles were checked during nakabandi, and action was taken against 40 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police have arrested two persons and detained a juvenile after seizing brown sugar valued at over Rs 44 lakh in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, an official said on Tuesday. Raid based on tip-off Acting on a tip-off about drug trafficking activities, police conducted a raid at a flat in a building in the Pandit Pada area of Saphala on Sunday, District Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh said, PTI reported.  During the operation, police recovered 224.61 grams of brown sugar, valued at Rs 44,92,200.
