Startups shake up IIT placements with high-skill AI roles and sky-high salaries, but in small numbers

Startups shake up IIT placements with high-skill AI roles and sky-high salaries, but in small numbers

A Mint review of more than 300 job descriptions showed that startups such as Javis, Abacus AI, Auxo AI, and others are extending annual packages in the ₹39-60 lakh range—with some US-based positions touching ₹2.6 crore+ for roles spanning voice AI, multimodal engineering, and core machine language (ML) development. In contrast, established firms—from BlackRock and IndiGo to major FMCG and IT services players—are offering ₹16-35 lakh for AI-linked roles, with IT services firms continuing to hire at scale but at far lower compensation levels compared to the AI startup cohort. However, according to Kamal Karanth, co-founder of Xpheno, a recruitment firm specializing in tech and startup staffing, startups usually hire in smaller numbers—one or two students for niche roles—while traditional firms recruit at scale. “Startups, however, value fresh talent because they bring a fresh pair of eyes, especially in implementing AI-led solutions,” Karanth said. “While there isn’t a large pool of ready-made AI talent, young recruits tend to learn faster than experienced professionals.” He further highlighted that hardcore AI engineering roles remain the forte of …

Scotland fans shake the earth after win over Denmark to qualify for World Cup after 1998 | Football News

Scotland fans shake the earth after win over Denmark to qualify for World Cup after 1998 | Football News

As Scotland defeated Denmark on Tuesday to book their place at the World Cup for the first time since 1998, it was not only the Hampden Park that was shaking. The earth was shaking too. According to the British Geological Survey (BGS), Scotland fans’ outburst of emotion when Kenny McLean scored from the halfway line to seal a stunning 4-2 win was equivalent to a very small earthquake. The BGS said McLean’s goal was picked up by its seismic activity monitors at the Glasgow Geothermal Observatory in Dalmarnock, around 2km from Hampden Park. A reading taken between 21:48 and 21:50 — when McLean’s audacious shot hit the net — was measured as a surge of between -1 and zero on the Richter Scale and produced the equivalent of 200kW, enough to power between 25 and 40 car batteries. The full-time whistle also produced a reading, as did Kieran Tierney’s superb goal to give Scotland a 3-2 lead. Stadium events causing seismic activity in Scotland are not unheard of. Last year’s Taylor Swift concerts in Edinburgh …

World’s top eight players will vie for the trophy though the tournament will decide who will end up as No.1 – Sinner or Alcaraz. “With the early exit of Carlos in Paris there are some scenarios, which I follow, but at the same time if he plays really well there is no chance, it doesn’t matter what my result is,” Sinner told reporters on the eve of the tournament. Sinner trails Alcaraz by 1,050 points in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin and must defend his title to have a shot at finishing year-end No. 1 for the second straight year. Even that might not be enough as if Alcaraz earns 450 points here, he will be the year-end No.1, regardless of what Sinner does. Nivola stated that his character didn’t think the blender was dangerous. “I was expecting that Saxon had made a protein shake in it,” he said. “I thought it was just left over protein. So I’m like, You know what? A little extra protein never hurt anybody. I’m not that much of an idiot.” According to Sam Nivola, Lochlan trusted his older brother, Saxon, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger.
