U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced the new tariffs on 60 countries under Section 301 of the Trade Act on Friday (July 24, 2026), a day before the expiration of 10% additional levies on all countries. The USTR statement said that Mr. Greer had taken the final action, at President Donald Trump’s direction, under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 by imposing tariffs on 60 economies for their failure to impose and effectively enforce a prohibition on the importation of goods produced with forced labour. The action will begin to correct what is both a human rights abuse and a distortive trade practice to improve the welfare of workers everywhere,” Mr. Greer said in a statement here. The final order was passed by the CCPA, headed by Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare and Commissioner Anupam Mishra, after a detailed investigation into the institute’s promotional claims on its official website and advertisements. They have been charged with conspiracy, wilfully failing to immediately inform the U.S. Coast Guard of a known hazardous condition, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and false statements, as well as pollution. Synergy is the manager of Dali, manned almost entirely by an Indian crew. Synergy and Grace Ocean Private Limited, the owner of the ship, had agreed to pay nearly $102 million in October, 2024, to resolve a civil claim brought by the department on this matter. New Delhi, The Central Information Commission has imposed a total penalty of ₹20,000 on two MCD officials, flagging “mala fide” conduct and a “misleading and incorrect” RTI reply in a case where information was furnished for an entirely different property, linked to alleged unauthorised basement use in Shastri Nagar. The ED had first raided the premises of NewsClick located in the Saidulajab area of the national capital in September, 2021 on charges of money laundering. (File for representation) The Enforcement Directorate has imposed a Rs 184 crore fine against news portal NewsClick, and its editor-in-chief, Prabir Purkayastha, under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), news agency PTI reported, citing official sources. As per the order, PPK NewsClick Studio Private Limited, the company that owns the portal, has been fined Rs 120 crore, while Purkayastha has been issued a separate penalty of Rs 64 crore for alleged violations. The entities have been found “contravening” FEMA provisions on two counts — alleged misrepresentation of foreign direct investment (FDI) funds and misdeclaration of services and exports, sources told the news agency.
