Amitabh Bachchan’s Vijay in Deewaar continues to influence Abhishek Bachchan’s business decisions, actor says ‘there’s emotion behind it’ | Bollywood News

3 min readMumbaiApr 11, 2026 10:38 AM IST In Deewaar, one of Amitabh Bachchan’s most enduring films, there is a moment that has stayed with audiences for decades. Vijay, played by Bachchan, buys a high-rise building in a deal that makes little financial sense. But the decision is driven by emotion: as a child, he had watched his mother work as a construction labourer on that very building. He buys it to gift it to her. It is a scene that continues to draw cheers, even today. The impact of that moment extended beyond audiences as it deeply influenced Bachchan’s son, Abhishek Bachchan, who recalled it in a conversation with Forbes India. Abhishek Bachchan’s business decisions have a Deewar connection Abhishek was asked about his business ventures and the actor recalled this particular scene from the film and said that it left an “indelible mark” on him. Reflecting on the lesson he drew from the scene, Abhishek said, “What that taught me was that there was emotion behind the business, it wasn’t just about the balance …

‘I ordered Swiggy once this trip and it didn’t work out’: Mitchell Santner on his health after ‘dodgy burger’ incident in T20 World Cup | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Feb 24, 2026 08:37 PM IST There was a time when tours to India came with a quiet subplot for visiting teams from places like Australia and New Zealand: the food. Players would arrive prepared for spin, heat and packed stadiums, but many also carried caution about what might land on their plates. Stories from earlier eras often included upset stomachs, cautious diets and the occasional desperate search for familiar meals. Over the years, though, that narrative has largely faded. International teams now travel with nutritionists, chefs and carefully managed menus, and India’s hospitality infrastructure around cricket has evolved dramatically. Incidents involving food have become rare talking points rather than tour-wide concerns. Still, every now and then, one pops up – often with a touch of humour. On Tuesday, ahead of New Zealand’s T20 World Cup Super 8 clash against Sri Lanka in Colombo, captain Mitchell Santner was asked whether he had been steering clear of fast food during the tournament. His answer hinted at a lesson learned earlier in the trip. …

Swiggy delivery partner falls while exiting moving train in Anantapur; company issues health update: ‘This is deeply concerning’ | Trending News

A disturbing video from Anantapur railway station in Andhra Pradesh has ignited fresh debate around the safety of gig workers, especially food delivery partners operating under tight timelines. The clip, shared on Instagram by Bijay Anand, shows a Swiggy delivery partner losing balance and falling while attempting to get off a moving train moments after handing over an order. The food had been delivered on the Prashanti Express (train no. 18464), which, according to Anand, stopped at the station for barely one or two minutes. “No delivery is worth a human life,” the post’s caption states. The customer who placed the order was travelling in a First AC coach, which has multiple entry points. By the time the delivery partner completed the handover, the train had already begun to pull out of the station. With his bike parked outside, food bag in hand, and other deliveries pending, the rider tried to step down quickly and ended up falling hard, a moment that left viewers shaken. Gig workers’ strike may disrupt Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit and Amazon deliveries

New Year’s Eve celebrations across India are likely to face major disruptions as thousands of gig workers associated with leading delivery and e-commerce platforms prepare for a nationwide strike on Wednesday. Delivery partners working with companies such as Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto, Amazon and Flipkart have announced plans to log off their apps or significantly reduce work, raising concerns over delays, cancellations and service breakdowns on one of the busiest commercial days of the year. The strike has been jointly called by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) and the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFAT), with support from multiple regional collectives operating across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal and parts of Tamil Nadu. Industry analysts warn that large-scale participation in the strike could …

Widely perceived as having fallen behind in the high-stakes AI race, Apple is expected to make a fresh bid to catch up with competitors at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) slated from June 9 to June 13. The iPhone-maker’s AI reboot includes letting third-party developers build on top of its smaller, in-house AI models, according to a report by Bloomberg. The new framework will also let developers integrate its flagship AI offering, Apple Intelligence, across their apps. While Apple looks to ramp up its AI push to win over users, major Indian developers have said that they are already collaborating with the tech giant to integrate existing Apple Intelligence features in the application layer.
