Parts of Delhi witnessed rain on Tuesday evening even as the day temperature remained slightly higher than normal for this time of the season. The city`s air quality showed marginal improvement with the AQI at 7 pm recorded at 358, down from 398 in the morning. It remained under the “very poor” category, nevertheless. Several areas in central, south, and east Delhi, witnessed rainfall towards the evening. The maximum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees Celsius, which was warmer than usual for the time of the season. Cloudy skies prevailed during the day. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season`s average, while dense fog affected visibility in several parts of the city on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), reported news agency PTI. Reduced visibility also hit railway services, with 22 Delhi-bound trains delayed, reported PTI. The Delhi airport reported delays in flight operations affecting approximately 134 flights, both arrivals and departures (domestic and international), due to fog. While 35 international flight departures got delayed from Delhi, 28 international arrivals got delayed as well. On the other hand, 43 domestic departures and 28 domestic arrivals got delayed. As many as 22 trains were delayed at the New Delhi Railway Station as well, amid low visibility. After dropping steadily for eight straight days, the city’s maximum temperature rose to 12.5°C degrees on Sunday with the sun finally making its way through the clouds. While the city woke up to dense fog in the morning, the haze cleared by afternoon and the sun came out for a while, taking the maximum temperature up from 11.1°C on Saturday to 12.5°C on Sunday. However, the day temperature was still 7.9 degrees below normal, making Sunday the seventh consecutive day with “severe cold day” conditions, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
